It was pouring over the weekend in New York City and I was driving for about 40 minutes. Suddenly, I heard very loud noise coming from outside as if all my windows were opened, then I noticed yellow triangle showing up on my HUD, but I just got onto the highway so I couldn't stop my car. Two minutes later, on my dash screen, it asked me to shift to Parking mode, another 30 secs later, it shows my driver door was opened.... During this time, both the car warning alarm and outside noise were killing me and couldn't find a shoulder on the local highway to park. So I decelerated and stopped my car on the highway, shifted to Parking mode, and opened and closed the driver door. And I almost got hit by the driver behind me.

I wonder if anyone here had experienced the electronic door lock released automatically while driving? I was thinking it could be activated by the heavy rain drop on the electronic door handle.
It sucks that I was not be able to open and close the door without switch to parking mode, but the system could open my door while I was driving.

 

I would suggest reporting this to Lexus and NHTSA (I assume they have an online method to submit concerns).

 

I’ve called my dealer and they said will let the technical department know about it. I will find out about NHTSA, never heard of it. Thanks for the advice.
