Default Ticking noise below engine in hybrid mode.

Hello, i have weird ticking noise from my 2006 lexus gs 450h hybrid. Its at least past 2 years had the same noise.
Noise is coming when transmission is in P, engine is not running but car is still in ready-mode. I even disabled ac and other electric parts to find cause but noise is still coming.
Ticking speeds up when moving car.

It looks like it comes from under the engine, rearside.
I posted video of this noise.

Thank you.

Best guess - transmission aux oil pump bearings.

Is it changeable bearings?

Yes, there are quite a few threads about it. Housing might be a bit rusty as well - clean up and apply marine grease or some other conservation method where there was rust. The most annoying part is probably the removal of the cable that's part of the pump assembly - you have to disconnect it from the engine bay and... well, let's say that this job is best done on a lift. You might want to use bearings rated for higher temperatures (i.e. with higher clearances, C2/C3 or whatever it was).

Drain the transmission oil beforehand and fill according to instructions. TLR - the oil should be barely dripping from the bleed hole when it's between 30 and 40deg. C, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING (at 1000rpm, via maintenance mode or otherwise). It's an aux oil pump, the engine runs the main pump, hence the "with the engine running" part.

Hi, sorry for reviving an old post, but have you managed to fix the issue, Miccou? Was it indeed the bearings?

I am having this noise on precisely the same GS model, including the year. In addition to the description, I also noticed that the noise appears a few seconds before the car switches into EV mode, slightly before the engine stops. Also, I'm pretty sure that the noise is noticeably louder when the car is already warm.

Thank you, and thanks Lwerewolf for the hint.

Hi, and no problem at all, i still have not fix the noise source, but im pretty much 100% sure noise is coming from that stated transmission aux oil pump. Noise has not got louder, but i do not use car as a daily driven, so its not prority no.1 😊

Found alot of similar issues over the internet, also step by step instructions for DIY change including recommended bearings what to use as a replacement part: 2x 6900-ZZ/C3

If someone can verify above bearing type, please do.

Thank you and good luck.

Still loving that car, despite of few minor issues 😍
