Wow! That's what it's SUPPOSED to get, Vanguard. Glad you are having a good experience so far. Do you drive it in Eco mode full time? 21 is the best I got in Eco mode. Dallas mixed traffic, some highway some city, lots of lights. Nothing crazy like NYC traffic.

I'm a huge Lexus fan, having owned hundreds in my lifetime (was an independent dealer as well) either personally or professionally. This would be literally the FIRST Lexus transmission I've ever had to replace. Although I have a ton of knowledge/experience with the brand, I'm dumbfounded on this one. It's just bananas! A brand new Lexus Rx needing a transmission? Wow. Not happy with my Rx500h purchase at all. I've had nothing more than 19mph in sport or normal mode. 21 in ECO mode, neither in the same ballpark as the advertised 27-28mpg. Not even close. The transmission is jerky and clunky at low speeds and hesitates dangerously trying to merge onto a busy street. I too have the shaking in reverse like it's going to stall when I back out of parking spaces. Rattles in the A-pillar, sunroof area were fixed by "missing fasteners" by the sunroof under the headliner point to shoddy craftsmanship which is also not Lexus-like. I LOVE the looks of the Rx500h but hate the engine. I traded in my 2019 Cayenne S for this and was promised great MPG at 27 and 400hp combined performance and have not felt either, at the pump or in my foot. Speaking of foot-thinking of ditching this before replacing the tranny due to having a paid off new Rx with a transmission replacement on its record. Resale for this down the road will be dismal with that on the CarFax, don't you all think? Being a former dealer myself, I had one SC I sold that had an engine replacement through the dealer and had a customer ask for a refund when I sold it to him and disclosed it when I sent him the service records. People do care about these major things being replaced, albeit it early on and under warranty. I'm concerned as well holding the bag on this in its history.
Im pretty sure the word is out because I was bored and shopping it around- the highest offer I got was 53K on a 72K MSRP after less than 9 months. This thing tanked like a rock in value. Didn't see that one coming.

It seems there have been quite a few lemon buy backs on this car and the value represents it. Its been reliable for me, but its just not fast enough for me. It definitely doesnt feel like a 400HP suv. The BMW X5 with 335 HP runs circles around this thing.

I keep it on normal 100% of the time. I hate interacting with that ridiculous infotainment system- I refuse. Its so bad lol.

Agreed-I have gotten slaughtered on trade in values. Looking at losing $20k on a Lexus Rx in first year is unheard of. So is having major catastrophic problems too like transmissions. Definitely feels like 275hp 4cyl turbo, not a 400hp machine and can you imagine getting 19mpg on top of that like me? I left a Cayenne S with true 400hp and it was a beast compared to this. Thinking of going back to a Cayenne actually. Sadly.

I traded in a 2 year old 2021 X6M for this thing haha. My work changed to having a lot more driving and I could not afford to keep that X6M and drive it 24K miles a year. The tires only last 10K and brakes 20K. And M's drop in value like crazy when miles get poured on. I actually wanted to downgrade to a base X5 or X6 but decided to try this new 500H.

Same with the Cayenne. I dumped it at 30k needed its third set of tires on those fat 21's it had (11.5" in back) and needed brakes. $4k total. Great time to get into a Rx500h with 400hp and 28mpg I thought!

Default Transmission needs replacing

Purchased our RX500h January 31, experienced low speed juddering in forward and reverse during first few days of ownership,,, this is my wife’s daily driver, within a month I complained about this issue. We live 250 miles from the nearest Lexus,, other issues are as follows , A- front lower fascia detached on the right side, had it reattached twice and finally replaced. B- when cabins heats up, outside temp approx 90 degrees or higher, the right side of the interior dash separates and bows upwards, the gap is nearly 3/4 of an inch. C- lousy fuel economy, we currently own two other Toyota hybrids, so we are familiar with the operational issues. C- the A/C is barely functional, does not adequately cool cabin. D- transmission shudders at low speeds, forward and reverse and now transmission is delay shifting from 1st to second gear. Excessive RPM before shift is completed.

in June we had to the dealership, informed me that a firmware upgrade was being developed to fix transmission issues, firmware would be ready in 60 to 90 days, in October of 23 we were informed that the firmware would NOT resolve our issue and that we need to bring RX in for a new diagnostic test,,, we did so and on Dec 19th we are informed that the transmission needs to be replaced in order to properly resolve transmission issues, currently there are ZERO transmissions available…

we have owned the RX for ten months and have approximately 3,600 miles on the vehicle,, no abuse, no hard driving,,, 1500 miles going back and forth to the dealership, only 2100 miles local driving…if I had noticed the shudders on delivery date, I would not have completed the purchase. Outside of the engine, the transmission is the most complex and expensive item of this vehicle. It will take the tech the better part of two days to replace our transmission and I believe it will never be the same again.

my wife has read of a number of other RX 500 transmissions having more severe problems, she now refuses to drive the vehicle at highway speed, needless to say I have begun the Lexus buyback process.

I will keep you informed if we are successful

I just clocked in 20,000 miles and don't really have any issues.

I DO have the transmission shuddering when low speed in reverse. Had it since day 1 and 20,000 miles later it behaves the same way.

I don't like it, but the car is "reliable" other than that.

Is it worth going to the dealer to get the tranny replaced since that seems to be the only resolution?

I have only had my new 2024 RX450h+ for six weeks, but I have backed up slowly a few times and the car "shuddered" so hard I thought I hit something, even though the rear camara showed nothing back there. I had to get out to look.

Maybe it was the safety system reacting to an incorrect signal, but the stop was harsh like I hit something.

If it was the safety system, the RX would have slammed on the brake, and shown "BRAKE!" on the instrument screen!

I think this is what it was.
I got out of the car quickly to look at what was back there first, then when I got back in there was a message on the dash about BRAKE, but I changed the gear to D and then back to R and did not get to read the message before it went away. This most recent case was while it was snowing so maybe there was debris stuck to a sensor. Thanks for the comment.
