Poor heating
Its been quite cold recently here with temperatures around -15 deg C here and I am not sure my car is heating up as well as it should. I have just purchase this 2010 car so I don't really know what is normal heat output but it's definitely not on par with any other car I have owned in the past 30 years. Usually other cars I have owned provide very good heat within about ten minutes of driving but this car seems to take a long time to give heat. Even after driving for a while the heater still only gives out luke warm air even if I turn the temperature level to full HI. The other thing I notice is that when in AUTO climate mode the blower fan never goes higher than the middle speed. I can manually run the fan at a any speed including including full blast, but AUTO mode never goes above mid speed. My other Lexus's with AUTO climate control will routinely get the fan blowing full on when necessary. Is this a common trait with the HS or does my car have some issues. I have checked the coolant level and it is full. The various damper controls for air flow seem to be working fine in terms of directing air to feet or to face or to windshield. I do notice however that the air flow output is not as good as I have experienced in other cars. I plan to change the cabin air filter to see if that makes a difference. Anyone else have similar experiences with their HS. Thanks
This is in response to both your posts. You have problems that need to be repaired. We have lots of heat in our HS.
Regarding the blower motor, it probably does need to be replaced. They do fail as they run almost the entire time the car is on. I bought a used 2013 Sienna with 88,000 miles and they had recently replaced the fan blower motor. A bad blower motor that does not allow the fan to spin properly will not push the heat into your car. Same if the blade is not attached to the shaft.
You could have a bad thermostat or other heater control, or a clogged cabin air filter making things worse.
First check that your cabin air filter is not totally clogged as that will prevent air flow and keep you from getting warm. It is accessed the same way as every other Toyota or Lexus and takes the same filter as many other models. You can find youtube videos for the ES350 or RX350 cabin air filter and they are exactly the same as the HS. Note - first set your A/C to recirculate before doing this.

Changed the cabin air filter and the blower motor seems much quieter. It's also not been as cold so that may have helped but still noise has subsided.
I also found out that if I have the car in power mode (instead of ECO) and climate control in AUTO mode, the blower motor will operate at higher speeds as necessary. When in ECO mode and climate set to auto mode, the blower speed will never goes past the third speed setting. I guess Lexus felt that in ECO mode every bit of energy saved is good, hence limiting blower speed.

Glad the problem seems to have gone away with the new filter.
