Required Maintenance
Question or advice for a 2010 HS, I sold to my active duty military son two years ago, had about 127k miles then and now has 136k miles, he had all required maintenance done, still drives well and between oil changes next one @140miles, what other maintenance would be required or recommended at this time frame that the manual may not say?? manual mostly talks about inspections of certain components, Thanks for the input!!!
My 2010 has similar mileage. He probably had the big ones done, and now it's just oil/filter changes until the big ones are due again. At some point he may need brake pads, but they do last a long time on hybrids. Some here recommend replacing the tranny fluid even though Lexus says it's lifetime, but if he's had the recall done then the fluid isn't that old. If he's still on the original 12v battery, it might be time to look for one. They run ~$250 at Lexus, but he may find something cheaper if he has time to shop. It's a gel unit since it's exposed to the passenger compartment, so I don't think you can just use a cheap lead acid battery that fits.
Change the transmission fluid. It is very easy on the hybrid, almost like changing your engine oil. It only holds 4 quarts. You open the fill plug first to make sure you can open it. Then open the drain plug. Then after it has drained, just fill it back up until fluid flows out of the fill plug. The install the fill plug and you are done. This is the same procedure as for a manual transmission. Try an independent hybrid shop. I do my own maintenance and have done this twice on my HS250h and it only has 89000 miles.
Your brakes should be serviced to make sure the guide pins are still lubricated and that none are stuck. In a hybrid where the pads last forever, that is a component often neglected that helps your brakes work better and your pads last longer. Also the brake fluid should be flushed or exchanged every few years.
If the coolant has not been changed, that should be done.

I had a recommended service done - don't quite remember the name. I had something to do with tightening all nuts and bolts on the chassis (or entire body). The car did ride better after that (tighter as new cars are in terms of body and suspension) - not sure it was only my perception or if really was better. Anyone familiar with this service?
Being it is a 2010 model have you had the recall done to replace the transmission? It covers all 2010 HS250h vehicles.
Tightening all those bolts etc every once in a while is a good idea and probably rarely done. I am unsure if it would make any real difference unless they found something that needed to be tightened as opposed to just confirming it was still tight.
