Default I just bought a 2010 hs250h and let me tell you why

$7000 100,000 miles on it

I'm getting a brand new tranny put in by Lexus...for free because of the recall.

My engine still has a 50,000 mile extended warranty on the so if it burns oil I get my engine rebuilt.

If the rebuild burns oil I'll get a new engine according to online reports

It's faster then the ct200

I thought the mouse controller was stupid until I saw a 2020 series BMW with one inside and also a tiny shift *** like the hs250

The hs250 was built in japan, and from my 2 weeks of research realized the engine problems were mostly non Japan built cars.

Could not find anything on Google about hs250 engine problems like I could with the ct200.

I can drive in the hov lane with my hybrid and beat traffic

Full coverage is only $100 a month

Couldn't find to many people complaining about the hs250
Over all I don't think I could have found a better deal as my second car off choice was a Camry but the 2007-2009 were bad years and the other camry cars were to expensive and didn't come with the warranty

Default Yeah!!!

Does your car have the three (1,2,3,M) control buttons next to the driver's door handle? I would love to know what options the car has, etc... That is a very good price for a car with a clean title!!!

Used HS250's are all underpriced. I decided to keep mine for a few years for my daughters to drive when they turn 16 rather than trade it in last year when I bought an EV. For what I could get for it would only buy an equivalent Civic/Corolla with unknown history when the time came. Deals of the century for buyers! So now I drive it once a week just to keep it in running condition.

I believe the HS250 uses conventional crank-driven belt and pulley system for the water pump and another accessory (ac maybe). So naturally it won't be as efficient and you have belts to worry about. CT200h would be sealed. everything electrically driven. no belts.

As far as the oil issues..not all CT200hs are created equal. It was mostly 2011 and 2012 models. The engine got various updates by Toyota to address oil consumption and by 2015 the powertrain got revised pistons, piston rings, intake manifold and other various parts.

But for your budget of $7,000, an HS250 probably isn't a bad buy. at 35 mpg combined though, today's new cars get 36 combined and they're not even hybrids. Corollas.. civics etc. shows how far engine tech has come.

Yes but the new Camry hybrid gets 50 mpg

Also hybrids last longer for some reasons

Breaks and engine should last longer then in a regular car

I have never gotten a used hybrid car / electric car because I was afraid of the battery or other repairs amounting to a large portion of the total car value. If there was some statistic to prove that hybrids last longer than I may start looking into getting one.

I was too. But I'm paying only 25$ a week in gas to drive 60 miles to NYC and back home a day. I could never buy a all gas card unless it gets like 35+ mpg.

The newer cars will get you that kind of mileage like the Mercedes C300 on all highway mileage. I am personally impressed at how efficient gasoline engines have gotten and they still seem to keep pushing efficiency further. Electric is definitely the way to go for the future but man those battery and electric motor costs scare the hell out of me.

EV battery costs keep coming down - they are about $100/kWh now. Motors are cheap compared to an engine or transmission, and have way less moving parts to wear or break. Plus no spark plugs, oil changes, power steering fluid, belts / hoses, etc. Brake pads last forever because regen does most of the braking in an EV. Modern (not early Leaf) EV life expectancy is now 300-500k miles. Next gen will be 1M miles, to support robotaxi duty. EV total cost of ownership is already on par with equivalent gas cars; in a few short years their MSRP will be cheaper.

Im hoping that there will soon be some easy way to get EV power to the rear wheel of common FWD cars... that would solve my want for an hybrid like the HS.. as I'd simply get one installed on my cars

The electric motors do almost all of the braking in an EV. The friction brakes are just for hard stops, and for the last few feet when coming to a full stop. It's called one-pedal driving, as you rarely need to touch the brake pedal in some EV's (depends on the design - some do regen via the accelerator (Tesla), some tie it to the brake pedal (eTron, Taycan).

This happens to a lesser extent on a hybrid like the HS too - I'm at 125k and still original brake pads with good pad left.
