I have had a used HS 250h premium for roughly 5 years now. Since 2022 or so, when I came out of a parking lot, the central console stopped opening on its own and the screen stayed blacked out. Putting the car to reverse shows the backup camera, bringing the menu back but severely laggy in every menu except anything related to the navigation system (apart from guidance). The clock is unchangeable and very dimmed. Audio and Bluetooth still works perfectly.

The Lexus dealership couldn’t figure out what was wrong, even after a week with the car and calling corporate, so I decided to live with it for 2 years.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and the screen suddenly worked again, central console still busted. Then a few days ago it stopped working again. So I decided to try again and investigate myself.

I have no idea what’s going on. All fuses related to the console and navigation system are fine. Battery is perfectly healthy as well.

I have never found this problem on either YouTube or google. I’m at this point thinking of tearing the center console open myself.

TLDR: Niche problem on niche car. Central Console is busted and no help is available anywhere.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or has any clue how to even approach this?

That is a very tough question considering that a dealer could not diagnose your problem. It may just be a failing screen.
Here are a couple of older threads regarding screen issues. The first shows how to take the center console area and screen apart.
You may just need a new screen. The first link also shows the part number at post 9 (Toshiba LTA080B0Y4F)
for an aftermarket screen that you can get on eBay for under $120 vs over $500 for one from Lexus. I just ordered one of these for my HS as the screen has become so bad, yellow and dark that I can hardly see using the back up camera etc. Just plug the part number into the search box on eBay and you will find several available from China.

I took video that fully shows the problem:

I also got an OBD2 to see if I could get more info out of the system, it gave me 4 errors (and a reason to keep an OBD2 scanner):
B1560 Motor Control Disconnected
B156B USB-BOX Disconnected
B15D6 Display Disconnected
B1568 Clock Device Disconnected

I'll take a look at those 2 links soon, just need to get the toolkit to open the console. Thank you for the direction!

This or something similar has happened on the RX350 and sometimes it was a cable under or inside the console that had a bad connection.
