Default LEDs - Flasher Relay help - AIRMAN?

I received my LED turn signals and turn signal relay today. I attempted to install them, starting with the relay. Glad I was at least smart enough to start there. I CAN'T GET THE DAMNED THING OUT!!! Can somebody, anybody, give me some pointers on how to get at this thing? It's stuck in such a precarious spot that, although I can reach it, I can't reach it with two hands. With one hand, I bent the outside prongs out and tried to push another clip (the one kinda in the middle of the harness) in but it won't budge. I'm afraid to pull too hard on the wires for fear of dislocating them from the harness. Unless I can get someone to instruct me on the right way, I guess I'm going to have 4 bulbs and a relay for sale soon.

I wish I could help, in fact, I just bought the LED relay and it's sitting on my work bench because I haven't bought the LED bulbs for the turn signals yet.

Sorry, I didn't know it would be such a PIA. I guess I'll have to look into it before I order the bulbs.

So........ which bulbs did you get? And where is the relay? Like I said, I haven't even started on this mod.

Airman:

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yep; that's where that thing is nested and yes, it's a ROYAL PITA! I was able to reach it a few times but couldn't get enough leverage on it to remove it. I ended up cutting the back of my hand on something up there. Haven't had the time or inclination to try it again. Doesn't surprise me that you would have to remove the dash, though. Only the nimblest hands and fingers are going to be able to get it swapped out.

Oh....and I got the bulbs from some guy in Hong Kong that I saw recommended somewhere on this forum. I don't have his name handy. Sorry.

Replace the relay. I don't have any pics. To find the relay turn on your hazard lights and shove your hand up the steering column between the brake pedal and the parking brake. You'll feel it clicking. Carefully remove the harness and install the new relay. (I left the OEM relay in there)

Here's a old thread from Stoodo, He still might be around in the GS forums.

Wonder if that little "claw" that holds it in is the problem?

Would removing the radio make it easier to get to?

Ha. No; removing the steering column would help. That thing is stuck waaaaaaaay up there. If you've got big arms and hands, forget it - you will NOT be able to remove it. I'll give it one more try in the next few days. I'll let you know if I'm successful.
