Default Gas over $3!

And predictions range from $3.75 this summer to $5 in 2012 or soon thereafter, assuming the world economy heats back up and we don't dip into another recession. Anyone else here reaffirm they made the right choice to get a more efficient car?

it's funny to be "excited" about gas going up, but you sort of are right after you buy a hybrid. I traded a 2007 Honda Civic hybrid in for my HS250h and a similar thing happened summer of 2008. I religiously kept a spreadsheet showing how much I was saving over the Acura RL I got rid of for the Civic. The peak I paid was $3.95 per gallon in June 2008 here in MN.

but yeah I am excited to continue to be driving a hybrid. the mileage on the HS is 8-10 less per gallon that the civic so hard to get too excited.

Well, on a macro level, gas going up is a sign that the economy is getting better and demand for energy is going up (or at least speculators are betting that it will). So that's a reason for everyone to cheer gas prices, though it hurts the wallet right now I'm sure. But it means more jobs, pay raises, investments going up, etc, which more than offsets the extra cost of gas long term.

And $5 gas sure won't hurt the resale value on the HS!

i can make 1/2 tank 33-34 but then something happens where i have to floor it or whatever and i take it down to 30-31. i'm only on my 3rd tank of gas i think so who knows where this will level out. i'm in 10-15 degrees Minnesota so it could vary based on weather.
