Question Halogen Bulb Meltdown, need help!

Looking for some feedback, I’m the new owner of a HS250h with the dreaded Halogen headlights. Went from and IS-F with HID to Halogen I recently pulled a totally newbie mistake and ordered 5K Super White lights from ebay. They were 100W vs 55W bulbs, I didn’t pay attention. Well needless to say I melted the inside of the Low Beam housing and now have to pay $1,200 to replace both headlights! Can anyone recommend BRIGHTER 55W Halogen Bulbs that won’t melt the housing or recommend a HID kit that won’t melt the housing or cause any damage to the electrical system?

Its a big change going from an IS-F to an HS-250h, I'm coping and really enjoy driving the HS

Totally bummed,
Joe Ski

haha,, I too jumped from an isF to a hs.. just order any regular hid kit from ebay and it will work fine,, we had the hid kit for a month now with no problems at all.. I have hid kit in both the headlights and fogs.. its really weird how your 100w bulb didnt melt before the housing of the headlight did... if anything,, usually the headlight wiring will melt before anything.. good luck

Yeah, I remember reading your post over in the IS-F forums. What a change. I'm still going thru Manly Man withdraw everything I walk up to the HS I'm surprised the 100W didn't melt the wiring as well? They were still working when I figured out what had happend. I was able to get one of the bulbs out. But the other melted itself inside the houseing! I want to thank you for your input on the HID conversion. If you can let me know which setup you’re running on your car? There are thousands of HID kits on eBay, I'd feel more confident getting the same one you've got since you've had success with it. You can PM if you like or share with the rest of the community.

Take care,
