Class action suit
Are there any class action suits going in [U]Canada?
I am getting tired of these recalls already.When I bought my HS 250 H Premium,I expected more of the perfection that Lexus allegedly pursues so relentlessly.I am also really cheesed off by the fact,that so many special features are not on the Canadian models,that are there on the US ones.I wonder why this is?Yet we pay much higher prices to boot!

Doesn't sound like you have any grounds for a suit. Recalls have been a part of the car game for decades. Now if they weren't taking care of these post manufacturing issues there you may have a problem. Also you'll notice that lexus does not claim perfection. It's only the pursuit of perfection, which prevents legal action should something not perfect happen
. I'd rather a company have a slew of recalls to address issues rather than making them "warranty items" which screws over owners outside of warranty. Also recalls indicate that the company is actually paying attention to issues in their cars and they are willing and eager to foot the bill to pay for it. Sure it's inconvient, but grounds for litigious action? Hardly- it's just good support.
And a company not giving you certain features relative to the price of your car for your market again has no legal ground for a civil suit.

Lexus doesn't have a choice, this is a safety recall,not a voluntary recall. I'm not really happy with all the recalls on my LS 460. I also just purchased a GX 460 Premium and Consumer Reports tested it, found out it had a safety issue with the VSC, put it on their do not buy list. Lexus came out with a recall, I had to drive two hours each direction to my dealer for a 20 minute software update. I know it's not good for resale value of our vehicles. Now, there is going to be another recall on my LS 460 to change all the valve springs. On a class action suit, the lawyers are the ones who make all the money, not the consumers.
Sorry man, looks like you're going to be out of luck.
Another (Vancouver) member on here gave a really good look into importing a brand new GS so he could get all the features and pay less etc etc; he ended up not doing it, if he chimes in he may go into the 'why'.
Unfortunately just becuase we're on the same continent doesn't mean we are in any way 'entitled' to the same options list or similar pricing. Many 1series buyers could complain that we don't get the 5door hatch here but they do in the UK, and as part of the Queens Empire, we could be able to get the 5door hatch too. Mexico also doesn't have the same set of cars/options as Canada or the US.
Re: the recalls - you could be getting no recalls and have the car fall apart or spontainiously combust or what ever instead. I just had a recall on my 6year old car, they happen.

yeah, i was *that* close to getting a usdm spec GS450h, but i didn't go for it due to the following reasons:
1) exchange rate was not favorable at the time, would not have made financial sense
2) while lexus canada will honor the warranty on a usdm lexus, it will not be without some aggrevation. for example, no free loaner from the dealer. and you can be sure that lexus canada will NOT bend over backwards to help you if you have a problem.
3) if any of the special features or equipment (available in US but not canada) were to malfunction, there is no guarantee the canadian lexus dealer will be able to troubleshoot or fix it. simply, the techs have not been trained and/or have access to the required repair manuals to fix the US only features. if worse came to worse, i may have to bring my GSh across the border to a US lexus dealer to get it fixed (to me, not worth the time, money or hassle)
and we can all gripe about jdm accessories and options not available to us here! i'm not going into how peeved i was when i found out all the goodies the jdm spec GS has over the regular GS that we get here.
Well, I don't know about getting all of the features not available on the canadian spec model; but when I bought my Lexus in the states, it was totally worthwhile. Got a lot of options for much less $$$ than I would have paid here in Canada. It was no hassle at all, either.
This is the problem with Toyota making luxury cars.
Toyota = lean
Luxury = excess
So Lexus applying Toyota's lean principles offers as little as it can get away with in a market. They still offer more bang for buck than competitors, but you do see cut corners. The reason the specs are less in Canada - not necessary to give more to the customer in Canada so why waste.
Personally, I may not buy a Lexus again.
I made a complaint to them about their shipping me defective F-Sport parts, and it's been 4 weeks without a response from Lexus corporate. That's their real-world service level.
