Changed oxygen sensor without CEL.. MPG jump
2010 HS250H, current mileage 197,000 mi
This car is only used as a commuter, 90% highway, usually 80-85mph. Driving appx 20k miles a year.
Back at 157k in Nov 2021, I was getting appx 25-27mpg over the course of the last 40k miles. Even though no CEL had been triggered, I changed the o2 sensor with a new Denso unit anyway. I did not check fuel trims.
MPG jumped initially, and now at 197k miles, has settled at 30-31mpg average. Driving style, commute, tires, etc. have not changed.
YMMV, but might be worth looking into if you're up in the mileage.
