Cold Engine Start Up Noise

It's normal. Common in Toyota V-8 engines. Likely culprits are the fuel injector solenoids and or the common cold clearance noises from the valve train.
If it's a loud knocking as opposed to a ticking could be the fuel mixture, try a different gas or higher octane. If the engine abnormally vibrates when you hear this sound go see your SA.

Fly Fish -- As you have quoted, Has this occured recently or it has been quite some time. I remember Lexus issued a TSB against a baffle noise coming up from the engine and this to be taken precaution during engine oil fill. I believe this baffle plate gets damaged & dislodged while using force to push the funnel into the oil fill hole. There is a noise which is quite irritating. And this needs to looked at immediately, otherwise you engine gets damaged. I know this was in no relation to what you have been having, just a thought !!
