... and yet another reson to not wait until 10,000 miles for the first Oil/Filter change. It's always 1,200-1,500 miles from delivery for me ... and then again at 6,000 miles ... and every 6,000 miles thereafter.

Always always always change the oil in a new motor after 1k miles....who in the world waits 10k to change oil. I change mine every 5k regardless. Can't believe they are still dealing with this issue after the Tundra/LX debacle two years ago.

I don't think an early oil change would have any effect on these failures.
The V35A has some major, baked-in flaws surrounding the main bearing bedplate/girdle and possibly oiling system, IMO.

who in the world waits 10k to change oil.
I would guess that 99% of people that buy a new Lexus wait until 10k for the first (free) oil change. Not saying this is right or wrong, but that is the way it is. Also as mentioned, if you need to change you oil at 1k or 5k or whatever to keep your engine from failing, then there is a fundamental problem with this engine.

^ ... never understood the "failing" point when talking oil change intervals ... it's all about longevity.

It's literally what they do from every Lexus dealer with new cars as part of normal service.. People who change it at 1k are far and away the outlier

I agree with you, I was just saying in reference to this recall I don't think an early oil change would do anything except perhaps extend time to failure.

The setbacks faced by the V35A and, consequently, the J250 platform GX program, I believe it's time to move beyond the V35A for Lexus or skip the generation until they can launch a product worthy of the GX nameplate.

Supporters of Toyota and Lexus have resisted acknowledging that this engine has significant design flaws, insisting that only TMML-manufactured engines were impacted and that JP engines were superior.

They've also repeated claims that Lexus resolved this issue before the GX's launch. Officially, the problem has been attributed to debris, which they say was addressed, yet we continue to see batch recall rollouts. Additionally, some believe that strict oil change schedules could mitigate these issues, but unfortunately, that's simply not the case. Those practicing rigorous preventive maintenance and analyzing trend oil change sample data have still encountered problems. Oil changes and the type of oil won’t rectify design flaws, and changing your oil every 100 miles won’t solve the underlying issues either.

I'd not bother with changing oil if the engine is to be replaced for free.

If my vehicle were shipped back to the Tahara plant in Japan to have the new engine installed....maybe. Otherwise... I'm out.

Quite possibly the most understated, yet profound and accurate comment on this forum in a decade.
