Water Pump DIY
Couldn’t find a water pump DIY on the boards, has any one on here done it themselves? Just want to know how you got to your water pump. I just changed my Radiator myself and what a PITA. I don’t want to dissemble it again, shame on me for not changing the water pump at the time, but it wasn’t leaking. I think I might be able to reach it by removing the fan, anyone here know how to remove the radiator fan/fan clutch? Thanks for y’alls help -Matt

For a Tundra 5.7, but I found these vids to be a good reference for our 4.6. Shows a good way to get at the front of our engines. If you are not leaking from the weep hole, let it ride until you start. Seems these pumps do not fail catastrophically, they let you know with the ‘cotton candy’ spilling out the pump
Part one:
Part two:
Part three:
Buy a Aisin water pump kit with thermostat. Buy a serpentine belt, tensioner, idler pulley. Buy a gallon of Toyota Pink and mix it 50/50 with distilled water. If you have ratcheting wrenches you will kiss them.
Save yourself a load of $$$! Dealer quoted $1750 or so for just the pump and thermostat. I did that and the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley for waaaaay less. Hit me up if you have any specific questions.

Torque specs for water pump bolts and tensioner
Where to look for the torque specs for the water pump and tensioner bolts ? I have removed the pump and tensioner from my 2nd gen GX and need to assemble it back now. The only specs I can find are 4 runner and tundra specs, I guess they are very close to the GX, but still would like to tighten to GX specs …
GX is 2015, water pump part number is 16100-09525

I'm weighing options for a water pump replacement on my 2012 with 126k on it. We are taking a roadtrip this summer and while I'm sure it would be fine, I want to get this taken care of as a preventative step.
While I'm in there, I'm going to do the fan clutch because the Aisin part is only $113. What about the fan clutch bearing bracket though? This is another Aisin part, only $96. Haven't heard of any failures but just curious...
I've already replaced my serp belt, though while everything is apart, I'm going to replace the tensioner and pulley, just because it will be easy with everything out of the way. FWIW, the radiator and upper hose have already been replaced.
Anything else that should be changed? Seems like there are quite a few small hoses carrying coolant this way and that... I'm sure they are all fine at this age/mileage.

Water pump wrench for UR engine
I just bought a 2012 with 96k and want to do preventative maintenance to ensure I can get 200k more out of it.
Water pump is on the list. In doing my research, I found Toyota makes a water pump pulley wrench for the 2.4L car engine, but haven't found one for the bigger engines. Does anyone know where to find this tool? Or have a procedure for getting the 4th bolt out of the water pump when removing it without damaging anything.
This is the smaller tool:

This is a youtube detailing the procedure on a 2012. He made his own tool out of scrap metal. I'd rather avoid this:

Is this the repair diagram for the 4.6L?
I found one those tools (10010) online for relatively inexpensive, but don't know for sure if that will work on my engine
