#KDSS Info / Problems / Discussion
The vehicle has been running great until the winter of 2013/2014 when the KDSS light starts to flash from time to time. I brought the vehicle to the local auto shop and they ran the computer code and could not come up with anything and told me to come for a diagnosis when the light stays on. The light went off by the spring and summer of 2014. I thought it was due to cold weather.
Of course the problem returned this winter with more frequency and stayed on at the end of winter. I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer for an inspection. Now the code returned 49611, with possible causes of C1812, C1832, C1851. The technician found that the connector pins on the accumulator assembly has significant rust and corrosions with number 3 pin broken off and stuck within the female connector hole. It all make sense. Bad connection in last winter, finally broken this winter with a steady KDSS light.
I searched forums and info on the internet and found of course I am not alone. Landcruiser use the same pump assembly.

The actual service bulletin board in Russian which you can use google translate:;

The part involved is the 2010 assembly with P#48860-60030 or P#48006-60030 which have been replace with a new part P#48006-60031. It also make a lot sense that this seemed to happen to a lot of Russian vehicles since the weather is similar.
I do not understand why Lexus did not send me or others a notice to have the part replaced and waited for the problem to occur on my vehicle and then struggle to find what was the problem. Now I am asked by Lexus customer service to go a couple hundred miles to have a Lexus dealer to verify the problem and not knowing whether any of the cost could be covered. I know this is a very expensive job. I will keep you posted about my experience once I make the 400 miles trip.
I sprayed the entire underneath of mine with fluid film the 1st week i bot it, and no rust at all after first harsh winter. Learned with my first gx that the wrought iron parts have significant corrrosion. You probably can still spray it underneath yours to prevent further
corrosion

You should have them check.
Code turn out to be C1851 - low pressure in KDSS. The dealer recommended to bleed the KDSS and I went ahead with it. Got it back yesterday and there's no more clunking and the light has not turned on yet...
However, if the bleed doesn't fix it, then I might need new accumulators.
From the work paper, it mentioned "Stabilizer Shock leaking" and it caused KDSS light to went off". I think the dealer may have replaced them under warranty.
You can check with your local dealer and see what they suggest.
