The short answer is no one knows. Toyota, and all major manufacturers, keep information like that close to the vest. I’d think the Prado would be a good lead indicator, but that’s speculation.
Nobody knows anything so far. I work for a Lexus dealership and anytime we have training or interact with corporate we don't get an answer on the next GX. All we have are rumors right now.
What I do know is outside of the southern region, the GX doesn't sell that well. There are rumors that the long wheelbase RX would replace the GX but the RX is still smaller inside. The GX hasn't changed since 2014 so anything is possible.

Thanks to both for your feedback. It would be foolish for Toyota not to come up with a new GX (based on the redesigned 2018 Prado) or simply make Prado available in US.I hate to wait out another year and then find they might just kill GX completely.
Other than pedestrian detection this can be added to a Luxury model with Driver Support Package. A trickling down of these existing features to Premium and Base models is more likely for the GX.
"Standard inclusions: lane departure warning, a pre-collision safety system with pedestrian detection, auto high-beam lights, and automatic cruise control – that’s only on the auto model, though -"
There are a lot of variables that go into producing a vehicle for a specific market. The GX seems to be selling relatively ok, but I’m sure there is a lot more to it. On the plus side, world wide, the Prado obviously is an important vehicle for Toyota. So it’s not going anywhere. Hopefully the non-4Rnr 150 series stays around in the US (in either GX or Prado version).
