Repair Cost?
Hi,
Heard that GX460 is made in Japan. So I wonder if the repair cost is expensive due to insufficient parts in US? I'd believe GX460 won't need much of repairs like German cars do, so not worried too much but just in case.
Your input appreciated!
Thanks!

What type of repairs are you referring to? It’s a Lexus so you will pay Lexus dealer rates if you choose to take it there. Doesn’t matter where it’s made, a Lexus made in Japan has the same Lexus dealer rate as a Lexus made in the US, if you take it to just about any Shop. I bought my 2015 GX brand new, it now has 30k miles and it’s only needed oil changes and rear pads thus far.

Actually not sure what kind of repairs I will have if I have the car for 10+ yrs and 100K+ miles... Want Luxury, so maybe air suspension will break 1st?

if it’s standard items, try going to a Toyota dealership, if you don’t have a indenpendent shop you trust. I’ve found that Toyota dealerships will work on Lexus for about $40 cheaper an hour. At 100k, please do the recommended maintenance items and you should be fine for a while.

Look at the 90,000 service thread. I saved a bundle in 15 minutes by switching to GB2011GX-co. (Actually thanks to Acrad for some pointers on what to do myself. I got out for $134.xx I think.
MAJOR repair items are rare because this vehicle, though luxury models do exist, is BUILT LIKE A TRUCK! It will just plain last. If a MAJOR repair occurs, it is probably due to misuse or freak item on manufacture.
Go to CarComplaints.com, get a free account and look at the nature of the reported repairs for all GXs or the exact model year you are looking for.
For example, my kid wanted a Tahoe. So we looked there and found the 2008 model (in our price range at the time) had the least # of issues and most were MINOR repairs compared to other years.

For comparison, here's the link to the Tahoe on CC https://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/Tahoe/

Rotaiva, that's a bogus assumption. GX has been around for a long time and its design is unchanged for years. OEM or aftermarket parts are plentiful and readily available. Repair cost has nothing to do with part availability. Lexus repair shop rate is inline with Infinity and Acura. it's slightly less than German cars for sure
