Default Center console storage

I just picked up my third Lexus from a 2001 LX 470 to a 2008 RX 350 to a beautiful lease-back 2013 GX460. I knew going into this that it wouldn't have the same fantastic center console that the LX had (has?) so I'm wondering if anyone has found a good insert/modification trick to make the deep well more useful?
Thanks in advance

Yea, I know what you mean. The center console is deep and is just a large pit to throw things into and dig for them when needed. Curious as to what you had before that was "fantastic" ?

You could try looking at this thread that some on the T4R forum are using. Not sure how exact in size the 2 consoles are, though.

Thanks for the 4-runner tip. I'll check it out more thoroughly. In my 2001 LX 470, the armrest part of the center console was one pice that flipped up to reveal the most useful full size tray ever. Then the bottom section opened as well to access the well below which wasn't as deep due to the split level system. Why they ever did away with that is beyond me as it was already perfect! Now as you say, the deep well is like a woman's purse-everything gets lost and there's no way to organize and instead of the full size tray the one you get is only big enough for a wallet and a couple of pens.

My current strategy is to store things in pouches in the center console. I have a bag for emergency toiletries, a bag for electronic do-dads and iPhone accessories, a bag for Advil, pepto, etc...

So at least it's not a black hole of garbage

I think a lot of women put their entire purse inside the console these days.

Salex 4-Runner products worked great! Especially the glove box organizer, and what an amazing difference that makes. I had to trim down the console organizer about 1/2 an inch to make it fit but it definitely works and helps. I still can't believe the designers of such a nice vehicle seemed to have completely overlooked functionality in such a essential place! Everything else in a Lexus is so incredibly well thought out, except for this very simple area.

Good to know! Any pics? I might be interested in doing this also.

Not a great pict but this system really does the trick and fits perfectly.

I had to trim about 1/2" off this to get it to work and at least it's better than it was. Still not great but that's Lexus's oversight I'd say.

I received my Salex center console organizer today after ordering off of Amazon. Its a little cheaper plastic than I imagined. It feels like a HDPE plastic and mine came with rough edges, like it was cut out on a band saw... I'll make it work but for $20 I expected a bit more... Maybe I'll use it as a template and make a similar one out of thin plywood or plexi-glass. $20 doesn't buy what it used to.
