We have a 2019 Premium and also had a very bothersome thump that we ended up taking to a Toyota dealership for diagnosis and repair. After too extensive-to-recant diagnosis that involved removing rear bumper, etc., it appears it was the latch below the mechanism that shuts/locks the rear door. We removed that and the noise was gone. I wasn't comfortable leaving that off, knowing Lexus didn't spend the engineering & money if it didn't serve a purpose, so added some very thin strips to the anchor (on the door frame) and reattached the striker part and put pieces of felt underneath it before screwing it back tight. Not very technical, but like i said, seems to be working. For now. And yes, it was a moderately expensive discovery due to the time required.

Hey there, I have 2010 Lexus GX460. I was looking to replace the rear sway bar bushings but have been unable to get unloosen two remaining bolts (one on driver and one on passenger side). I have applied WD-40 penetrate spray overnight and recently but those two bolts remain stubborn. I have been using a hydraulic jack to take some of the weight/tension, which worked for the two bolts that can out.

On the positive side, I was able to unloosen one bolt on each bracket. However, the bracket on the driver side shifted slight to the right when attempting to unloosen the remaining bolt (the one closer to the front). Which means that I'm unable to put back to original bolt to secure the bracket in place. I would appreciate all the suggestions I can get.

if penetrating oil is not working, then i would suggest heat. if you're replacing the bushing anyway, you shouldnt need to worry about them melting

^ ... WD-40 is totally worthless for this purpose ... use PB Blaster ... soak overnight then apply again just before next removal attempt. Also, initially alternate in the tightening and loosening direction being careful to not strip the threads. Introducing some impact vibration (brass hammer / drift) assists the capillary action of penetrating oil.

WD-40 does make a penetrating version of their spray. no idea if this is what the poster was referring to, but I would agree that PB Blaster is the best to use.

I've always wanted an excuse to buy one of these induction heaters, but they are expensive.
