Lightbulb #Whine or #Whining noises

New 2012 GX 460 in 01/2012. While GX is coasting between 55 mph and 70 mph, noticeable "whine" from vehicle. (Sounds like the whine from snow tires, but that happens all of the time in a previous vehicle.) Noise disappears when the accelarator is engaged. Been like this from day #1 and now at 10k miles. Dealer seems perplexed; has said at delivery and at 5k service that it is the tires. Bridgestone dealer says "not our tires."
Anyone in the Club expereince such an issue?
Thanks.

we have an issue like this on our infinit g. its a nissan of course and our last.

it could be the tire hub and wheel bearings (atleast thats what it sounds like) on our infiniti.

on a gx, i dont know why this problem would exist, but something to check out.

Sounds like tires to me. I don't like Bridgestone tires, they were terrible on my BMW X5.

Default Update

Took my car to the dealer (Greenwich, CT). I was told that it was a vibration in the differential. They also said that they drove 4-5 other 2012 GXs, some with more miles than mine, and heard the same thing. Also said that if something happens, that it would not be all of a sudden.
Anyone out there with this expereince of a "vibrating differential?"
Thanks,

There is only one sort of weird noise I hear from my GX and it is a "squish" sound from the brake pedal area when initiating a stop.

That's what I was told but why does it do that? The brakes on my previously owned 2004 GX470 felt exactly the same but without the squish.

It is not normal and I would want them to take you on a test drive with a new GX to prove it. I have never had any vibration or whine. I would not except this problem as being normal! If you have to, you may want to look at your state's lemon law!

My 2007 GX470 does the EXACT same thing as what you are describing. I don't think it's tires, although I do have AT's mounted which are a little bit on the noisy side. I would describe the sound as a high pitched drone which happens when lifting off the accelerator (coasting) between 55-70 mph. It is more pronounced when coasting downhill. As soon as I apply power, the sound is instantly gone. Now the funny part is that during the summer (Georgia) I hardly noticed it. Now that it has cooled off, it's definitely more pronounced. I will also say that the truck has done this for over a year, with no change in performance and the sound hasn't gotten any worse or better. Personally, I feel that the drone is normal.....typical of an all-time 4 wheel drive truck. Of course, it is a Lexus so any sound will get the attention of the owner/driver (as referenced on these forums). I have done a little research and found a possible root cause.....differential dynamic dampener. There is a TSB out to perform an inspection and one of two repairs. One is simply replacing the dampener, and the other involves some major teardown. But, this is a drone at highway speeds and under power. Not typical of mine. However, I wonder if it is related to the dampener, and if the newly designed dampener has thicker or a different type of rubber in it. Remember I noted that the sound was louder in cold weather? I wonder if swapping the dampener would help? I don't know.

i have not heard a "whine" when coasting. its actually very quiet.

the "wet shoe" sound is present on other toyota suvs as well when depressing brake pedal including the 4R and LX.

T4Fun is right, many Toyota/Lexus vehicles have this sound. After a while you don't even hear it!

Even more annoying is the noise from second row seats. Anyone else noticed that?

Noise from the back seat is new. Give us a little more info and maybe we can help.
