receiving inventory after production restart
Has anybody seen new inventory on dealer lots after the production restart from mid-April? I've driven by my local dealer and the lot looks pretty bare. I'm not sure how long the boat ride is to get over here. My guess is maybe a month or so. The inventory should be either on the lots by now or arriving shortly.
For those that are currently shopping for new cars, I'm curious to know if you're concerned about any potential radiation. What are your thoughts as it's def a possibility. Whether it's a small possiblity or a large on, I guess depends on who you ask. Japanese official says it's nothing to be concerned with and US media, says it's something that the ports are looking for before accepting the cargo.
It would be nice to have your own radiation meter and go to the lots and see for yourself but it's not like those things are something that you just pick up at your local Target.

I just purchased a 2011 GX last week and the new car manager told me they are facing short supply issue right from Japan as he was briefed by his higher up. It may be a while to normalize as all dealers need vehicle to sell especially for their RX model.

It's going to be late this year before things normalize and even then you have to play catch up. Prices now just plain old suck.
One dealer I talked to actually wanted 1k over MSRP. Who pays over sticker on a regular car/suv??? Other guys have upped their price on low mileage used cars. . . to MSRP. Yeah, the day I pay MSRP on a used pre titled regular car is never going to happen.
If you really need a car I'd suggest hit up swap a lease.com and grab a 12 month lease till things come back to reality. Think of it as a lonnngggg test drive.

If all goes well, we should be back to normal in October or so. I'm waiting until then and the 2012 GX 460 until I buy. I too am in California, Southern to be exact and inventory really sucks now. I couldn't even locate a white one.
And come on, radiation on the parts ? :-)

Well. I expect a slight increase, but not large. You'd figure Toyota is losing sales now because of the lack of inventory. They won't shoot themselves by jacking up the price 5k. They would want to gain back the customers. I mean, the GX is already higher priced than most Luxry SUVs in that category. Why jack the price up and lose more sales.
