To know if you are getting a good deal or not, you need to price an invoice price so you know how much over/under you are. Then you will know if you are getting a good deal. Go to a web site like edmunds.com and you will know.
I wouldn't consider anything with more than $1000 over invoice. I bought my $150 over invoice when it came out.

I find this website to be very accurate for invoice pricing.
http://www.truecar.com/new-cars/makes.html
We got our GX Premium for $1000 over invoice since it is a 2011 model. Here in SoCal, the 2011 GX is somewhat a limited production vehicle and they only have so many for the year. Unlike the bread and butter IS, RX and the ES, it's difficult to get close to invoice.
However, 2010 models are offered with very good deals. The few 2010 models left at our local dealer didn't have the color/options we were looking for but 2010 models were going $500 below invoice. If your local dealer has any 2010 left and color/options are what you want, you can get a really good deal.

That sounds pretty high. I just bought a 2011 GX 460 for $52,250 before TT&L. (MSRP was $59,154) It was about $250 over invoice. Also, it's a lot easier to negotiate through your dealer's internet sales department. I had several dealers here in Houston bidding against each other via email.
