Default Scosche MagicMount Pro2

Just installed the Scosche MagicMount™ Pro2 4-In-1 Vent/Dash in my 2020 to hold my iPhone 14 pro while I wait for the Beat-Sonic CarPlay to come back in stock.

I don't like large, bulky mounts or windshield mounts (50% is not wanting to feel cluttered, 50% is out of embarrassment that I even need to mount a phone in a $70k vehicle from 2020). BTW, I'm not flexing, I didn't pay $70k, I bought used, I am just trying to make a point.

This thing is pretty slick and isn't too much of an eyesore on the dash. The MagSafe magnets hold the phone with zero wobble and the rubber padding makes sure the phone doesn't move when swiping and navigating between apps.

Wanted to share in case anyone else is searching for a good, minimalist mount for their GX.

Looks nice/viable.

The based that mounts to the dash - is it a suction cup or glue?

It’s adhesive tape. Before I applied it I was thinking the same as you. Scosche’s website shows that it’s removable by running dental floss under the mount, then using some Goo Gone to remove any residual glue.

I'm not judging you

I'd ideally like a suction mount but I'd prefer the adhesive to drilling holes or attaching to an A/C vent. That mount looks nice and seems a matching one would fit on passenger side.

Then again maybe shouldn't be a tightwad and just buy BeatSonic as opposed to the Vline?

I've got an older 2012 but also pondering those two options.

Drilling holes was out of the question for me because I know I will get the BeatSonic eventually,

Suction cup mounts have two things going against them; they only work on smooth, generally flat surfaces and need a minimum surface area to have sufficient suction. This usually ends up being a 3" or larger circle. The windshield is the only option in the GX.

The adhesive mount on this unit is only 2.25"x1" and is designed to contour to non-flat surfaces.
