Default Method or TRD Pro rims and tires

Hey folks. The Bridgestones on my 2022 are starting to wear with only 9k miles on them. If I am going to get new tires soon, I might as well get some new lighter and smaller rims to improve ride quality.

What are your thoughts between the TRD pro wheels vs this from Method racing? They are both about the same weight. I would have gotten the 17x8 Method for even more weight savings, but its not in stock.

Also, for tires, I want lighter truck tires since I'm a "mall crawler" so I'm thinking some Michelin Premier LTX or Primacy LTX. What tire size is a safe bet to not have any rubbing issues?

Thanks.

I think those Method wheels look great, although pretty common. Those aren't the exact ones you're buying, though, right? You mentioned 17x8 aren't in stock but those are and they're not the 6x bolt pattern. The TRD Pro wheels look good and are also about as common. I'd go with the cheaper one if I had to choose between the two.

The methods are 6 bolts. Yea maybe the trds are better since its cheaper and easier to source if i need to.

I’d personally go the trd route. I prefer OEM wheels just because you know that there going to be high quality and backed by Toyota if anything goes wrong. Also nice to know that they should be readily available for a while incase Ish happens.

Method ... all Toyota wheels are 7.0" or 7.5" width with way too positive (inboard) offset. Go with 8.0" width ... with more negative (outboard) offset to eliminate the Toyota "Soccer Mom Stance" ... will result in improved cornering stability.

Dunno what color your GX is, but I had those wheels with 265/70 Falkens, in 17x8.5+0. I actually really liked them and they're a great value wheel, but I also didn't want my car to be a black blob so I sold them for bronze wheels. The color is misleading on the site and way brighter than they actually are. They are black.

Atomic silver with black rims currently. So will stick to the black. Are they hubcentric and what size tires do you recommend? I dont want to do any mods whatsoever.

They are hubcentric. Just remember to buy aftermarket conical lugs - these accommodate the ET (extended thread) ones. If no mods, then sticking to stock height is probably best, which is 265/65R17. It doesn't take much to fit a 265/70R17 - all you need to do is push some plastics out of the way, but it varies tire to tire. I don't think the Michelin LTXs will give you any problems.

These are the AGP Wheels. Styled like the TRD ones but are 8 inches wide. Offset is perfect. Falken tires.

Come to think of it, the Methods pushes the tires out too much based on the pictures. I rather not have it throw stuff at the body. I might just have to go with the TRDs.

Like that stance! Would be interested to see these with Goodyear Duratrac tires.

id go with trds if those are the 2 choices. better to have the tires 'in' and narrower for most if not all on road and many if not most off road conditions.

Those wheels do not look like ET0 ... way too outboard ... look more like -6 or -12 ... please verify.

They are a +0. They only make them in +0 for the 17x8.5 size.

This is the same truck a few months later with -10 wheels, but same tire. They stick out slightly more. I'm not sure if the +4 TRD Pro wheels will poke really that much less; they're only 4mm inboard.

My brother and I have a wheel problem so we've been able to directly compare.

@situman you could also take a look at these few posts and see if you like what they've done. Might save you a few bucks to just to go a slightly larger tire on the stock wheels (that you know won't stick out).
