Default Used luxury model higher maintenance?

As I look at various used options in the 2016-2018 model years, I’m wondering if the luxury version will add more maintenance and expense over the next several years of ownership, all other things equal? I’m looking at 2 vehicles, one of which is a 2017 luxury for $44k with 50k miles. The interest in the luxury is almost entirely due to my desire to have lda and adaptive cruise control though some of the other things are nice to have such as the ML audio, etc. thoughts?

also, will this version of LDA and ACC work identically to my wife’s 2017 rx350?

Really specific to the cost of AVS Shock replacement ... which IMHO is absolutely criminal for what they represent. Also, possible failure of the rear air-bag springs ... that I personally found to be reliable.

Thanks, are the AVS shocks highly expensive but known to be reliable?

Many (wrongly IMHO) assume shocks are good until they start leaking/seeping oil past the shock rod seals. My opinion is that the AVS Shocks start to get sloppy past 80,000 - 90,000 miles (like most non-bargain-basement shocks).

Appreciate the input. Unfortunately, the deal fell apart on the luxury. I don’t think the price was unfair in this crappy market but I wasn’t going to lean in that high for a five year old vehicle unless it was immaculate, and it wasn’t. They have sat on it at 43.9 for 45 days so it may end up at auction or maybe it will sell. I’m going to look at a new local premium tomorrow for comparison.

If you do not tow (needing rear leveling), then IMHO the Premium is the best value.

lda alerts you with beeps and acc stops working below 30mph. no automated wheel turning or bringing the beast to a stop.

this is helpful, thank you. While certainly better than not having it, this system isn’t as useful as the wife’s rx350 based in the above.

If we hadn't found such a great deal on our luxury back in 2018 we would have likely bought a Premium... that's what I was shopping for at the time...

the airbags aren't maintenance intensive or expensive to replace however when the AVS shocks or struts go out as @ASE mentions....(if it ever happens) I'll likely just trade it in on a new Sequoia. The good news is I haven't heard of many failures....

keep your KDSS actuator cleaned and coated with fluid film or similiar to prevent rust and corrosion and you'll be fine for future suspension swaps as needed.

Shocks typically do not "go out" ... yes, some may develop leaking/weeping shock rod seals, but that is an exception. The end-of-life is usually due to wear ... internal piston-to-cylinder clearance and internal valving to where the shock gets "sloppy" and the vehicle handling degrades ... typically starts to become noticeable in the 85,000 to 90,000 mile range, and then continues to degrade with ongoing wear. Many people are oblivious to this happening, but for those that pay attention to driving dynamics ... something to consider ... IMHO the GX is wallowy enough without shock wear.

I have a '12 Premium....

10-13 Premium is essentially = '14-'22 Luxury for vehicle trim and line placement. Just normal maintenance ... I had a water pump failure shortly after acquiring but otherwise has been reliable. I'm just shy of 74k miles now.... purchased in early '17 with around 34k miles.
