I’d understand if they charge you money to start your car from the phone app because there are RECURRING costs associated with running a cloud infrastructure, app developers having to constantly update the app, and so on. But to do it from your key fob ????? What a joke.

the key fob and the receiving module are already there. No cloud access is needed, no cost to Lexus. This is just a cash grab.

Bringing this thread up again... I have a 2022 GX that I want to add remote start to. I'm seeing a kit that seems to maybe override the Enform shut down? Anyone try this? It says 2020-2021... wonder if it works on my 2022?

I'd like to know also. Have a 2023 and RS does not work. I did play around in TechStream once and found a setting that was for remote start and said next to it for techs to NOT enable it. I did not have the time to see what it did at the time.

I got a message from Lexus that our Enform will expire soon (in just over a week). Once it has expired, I'll test the key/remote to see if it will still start it.

I’ve got a 2019 Premium that I purchased CPO two years ago. The Remote FOB start worked until the 1st week of November 2024

After going through the dealer and finally calling Lexus. They told me you had to pay for the subscription for the remote feature to work

@NXWes I have a 2019 Lux and my remote FOB still works.

Of course the range is limited on the FOB and the doors have to be locked for it to work. I considered getting an aftermarket system but called Lexus to see what their price was. The Viper system on my Tacoma had a vampire draw and ate batteries. The Compustar was better but the monthly fee was a bit spendy.

Pay one year in advance (cancel at any time) Lexus is $6.67 a month all in. They threw in Safety Connect as well for free. In addition to remote start and lock\unlock it has GPS Vehicle Finder and Guest Driver Monitor. And is already installed by the factory it was a no brainer to me and cheaper than same features from a 3rd party. In addition to the doors being locked the Lexus Remote Start requires at least a quarter tank of gas or it will not work. But you can still use the key FOB that is what I did on Friday when I was sitting at a quarter tank.

Does your fob still start your GX? Maybe instead of the $140 wiring loom, just a $7 subscription then cancel to Lexus is all I need to get mine working.

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Yes, the key fob remote start still works. Press the lock function three times quickly and on the third press you hold it, then it starts. You may have to have the parking brake applied.

We bought our 2022 new, around mid Dec 2021, so it's over three years old and the Enform has expired.

If I am reading that correct, I didn't realize one needs to have an active Enform account to use the key fob for remote start. Seems a sneaky way to 'require' owners to continue paying for Enform just to continue using a feature that is already in place (key fob) and one that normally would not require any additional communication outside a key fob-to-car distance. This means to me that every time you use your key fob for remote start that Lexus knows about it since it likely communicates the action back to them (as they require Enform for it to work).
VERY DISAPPOINTED with Lexus.
Just bought a loaded 2025 RX450h+, that I just love …then I find out that for these things to work, you can’t OPT-OUT of personal data sharing like precise location, even if the service has nothing to do with location …like remote start!

Oh, and they DO share your info. Imagine ALL your trips fully documented with exact dates and times, route taken, and even a driver aggressiveness score! All done without disclosure. CAN YOU DAY DISHONESTY?
Look up “mapbox” and Lexus. Look up “GOOGLE” and Lexus, and get even more upset.
