This situation must come up all the time. Happened to me swapping plugs on our GX. I got a bit hasty and next thing I know I have three wires looking at me. Searched Lexus parts and about puked thinking the solution was swapping the engine wiring harness.
Then I realized that after all it is a Toyota. Same cam sensor and connector is used in a ton of vehicles and people yank wires out of them from Alabama to Afghanistan.
For me I ordered this, soldered and shrink wrapped the connections and has worked out fine. Even left some slack in the connection so the next guy swapping plugs won't have the same issue. Many vendors offer the same plug - I also could have bought locally from AutoZone.
What color wires go into what location if the new plug?
For me it was passenger side - 2012 GX. From center of engine out the original colors were White - Black - Purple
On replacement plug it was Red - Yellow - Black.
So original White goes to Red, original Black to Yellow and original Purple to Black
If you are working on the drivers side or have a different year the colors could vary. For me it was pretty clear which wire went where based on length. 2012 GX460 Passenger side cam sensor
