Any updates? Did the dealer try LPS setting mentioned above?
YES! Just like the comment above this one, had to bring to my local dealer and they needed to use diagnostic tool to turn all the settings back to on. For some reason I couldn’t do it on the user interface, nor could he. Only the diagnostic tool the dealer has was able to see it.
Went to the dealership today. Got the key fob fixed. I was able to go back and see them do it. There were several other settings not set the their default value.
I've developed a bizarre issue with my 2010 GX. Typically, when you exit the vehicle with the keys, while the car is running, and close any door, the car will beep...telling you that the key has been removed from a running vehicle. Likewise, if you manually lock all the doors while leaving your key inside, it will automatically unlock when you shut the last door and beep. On my GX, this behavior works as expected.....except for the driver side door. I can leave the vehicle with the key, close the driver side door, nothing beeps. I can manually lock all the doors in the GX, leave the key fob inside, and close the driver side door.....my keys are now locked inside the car. I'm guessing there's a proximity sensor somewhere around the driver side that detects the key fob? If so, does anyone know where it is?
Other info: Yes the running boards light up when I stand next to the driver side door. Yes, I can unlock and lock the car using the driver side door handle. Yes, I can start the car just fine without having to tap the start button.
Finally resolved this issue, almost a year later lol. Broken driver side door jam sensor was causing the issue. Some obvious symptoms I overlooked when I had this problem, I could open the driver side door and there would be no warning or indication that the door was ajar. That should have tipped me off way earlier.
Both of my key fobs have new batteries. They both intermittently fail to unlock doors. I've read a few threads on possible problem keyless door module?
This problem just started.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Only got one Fob when we purchased our vehicle. Torn between getting a $45 ebay version with a key or an OEM + key at close to 3x the cost. It will be just a backup since I only need one Fob. Are the ebay ones reliable?
. I was able to program an OEM Transmitter fob and (x2) additional aftermarket transmitter fobs. There was a bit of a learning curve, so I figured I'd add this post to document my findings. To get the aftermarket fobs to program took a few tries, but now they work every time.
For the OEM FOB, I bought P/N 89904-60590 from Bell Lexus. Fast shipping & easy to work with. Note, this does not come with the key blade. (Note; The internal specs are Board: 271451-5290 GNE, Battery: CR1632, FCC ID:HYQ14ACX, IC:1551A-14ACX, Frequency 314.36Mhz, Chip 4D-68 DST80, "Toyota 4th Generation Smart Key").
The blade is P/N 69515-30300 (The specs are: (“40K” double sided)), Keyway: LPX90).
For the aftermarket FOBs, I bought (x2) REM Key Fobs with blades cut by 1010Keys on eBay. Link here. I sent pictures to 1010keys of both sides of my key blade, and he cut both of them for me. These FOBs look good, but the laser marking on the back is a bit different, and the boards inside appear different. See Pics.
On the XTOOL D7, you can use the diagnostic button to get to the SMART ACCESS -> Special functions sub menu, however this will not work for key programming on the GX460.
I was able to get both types of fobs to program by:
Enter car with existing programmed key, leave the 2nd key to be programmed outside of the vehicle. (I left it on the ground about 10 feet away from the door. Yes, this appears to matter.)
(Without pressing the brake) hit start button twice to get car to turn ON without starting the engine.
Plug in XTOOL D7 to OBD2 port
On XTOOL D7, Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS from the home screen (note; do not go to key programming through the normal diagnostic menu)
Select IMMO -> Agree to Disclaimer -> OK to Prompt
Select LEXUS (SW version 27.06 at the time of writing)
Select by model -> GX460-> 2010-2023 -> Smart Key
Select OEM KEY (for OEM) OR OTHER KEY (for aftermarket)-> Select Add Keys -> then Follow Prompts:
Touch your original key in the area near the start button (Note: do not actually PUSH the start button, just hold the key near it. You should hear a single beep from the car acknowledging it read the key and a single red flash of the Immobilizer LED near the center stack.)
Quickly, exit the car with the original key and swap with your new key to be programmed. (Leave the original key >10ft from car.)
Touch and hold your new key in the area near the start button. (Note; you may need to move the key around a bit. Keep holding the key in this area for 30-60 seconds, as it may not immediately recognize. For the OEM key, you should hear a single beep from the car acknowledging it read the key. For the aftermarket keys I heard no beep, but got a program success in the next step after a couple tries. The hint is to keep holding the aftermarket key to your start/stop button until the XTOOL function times out... ~about 60 seconds.)
You should get a "program success" message from the XTOOL D7. If you get a program fail indication, you may need to reattempt using the "OTHER KEY" or "XTOOL KEY" menus.
Hints: The spare OEM Key programmed easily and fast after touching it to the START/STOP Button. It was immediately recognized with a confirmation beep and Program Success message. The aftermarket keys initially did not look like it was going to work, but programmed successfully after holding them to the start/stop button for 60 seconds. I required 2 attempts for one of the aftermarket fobs. It appears you just need to re-try a bit with the aftermarket units.
In all, it took me about 30 minutes to program all (x3) new fobs, and they are working as expected. The aftermarket key blades click into the OEM fobs. The aftermarket Fobs come with a cut blade for about 1/2 of the price of just the transmitter from Lexus. (Admittedly at about 1/2 of the quality???) I am happy to have multiple spare keys programmed since I got this car used with only 1 key. The other functions of the XTOOL D7 seem good so far. I was able to get it to recognize 32 of the computers/systems in the GX460, and I was able to read TPMS data off of OBD2.
