Default Second Auxiliary Battery

Is anyone running a dual battery setup? I can't find a kit for the GX460. But I find for 4runners and 1 for the gx470. I'm sure they could be adapted for the GX.
But maybe someone knows of a better solution or kit?

1. Offgrid Engineering $799

2. Genesis Offroad $529

3. SDHQ $659.95

Okay Acrad, I checked out the Redarc line and we can add those to the list too.

Redarc Battery Charger $442.61

Redarc 60A Fuse Kit $56.95
https://redarcelectronics.com/products/60a-fuse-kit

Redarc Battery Isolater $230.45

Not sure if you need anything else to complete their "kit".
But so far a Redarc dual battery looks like it would cost $730.
I do like that it is solar ready.

I’m curious to learn about this too. I’ve got a few add a fuses and lights that I would like to add onto an auxiliary battery just for piece of mind... I can then justify buying a fridge for my trips into the urban jungle for groceries.

Yes, my goal is a fridge and some aux lighting. But more taxing still I want to put a subwoofer and amplifier I had from a previous car. I figured I may as well look into the second battery now and budget it in. It will probably be best to install at the same time I do the subs, which I want to do soon.

I used to do that in my off road vehicles. Batteries take a pounding. Mounting/weight stresses the bodywork. Good investment in hardware + installation. Still good for a lot of uses, but personally, I'm heading in the direction of portable lithium battery to power the fridge and other accessories. As an example, a Bluetti AC200 with 1700 watt-hours can theoretically run a Dometic CFX3 55 IM fridge for 127 hours (if my calculations are correct; 1.11 amp hour/hour consumption @ 90ºF ambient, 39℉ internal temp).

This unit can simultaneously be charged off of 12vdc while the alternator is running via the car port plug, solar, or 115vac. The good thing about being portable vs fixed to the vehicle is that you can take it with you to a camp site, boat, off grid cabin etc.

The subwoofer + amplifier requires a bunch of current, therefore you may have to calculate the output of a portable vs a second battery + second alternator (or larger capacity single).

Odyssey batteries used to sponsor me, great batteries 💪🏽

My $.02 is to save money on the dual battery setup - put in an Odyssey 34R-PC1500T, voltage booster, and call it a day.
