Default Electrical issue_GX460_ non start

Hello all,

2014 GX460 base model...The vehicle will no longer start with the Start button/brake depressed. Both key fob's are working and holding the key fob to the start button did not yield any results. The Instrument panel works, dome light, and headlights work. There is no power to any other instrumentation (i.e. radio, GPS, mirrors, locks, etc.. The Start button is lit, but remains amber.

I have been checking all fuses (OHM meter) and did swap out two 30amp fuses under the hood (one appeared to be radio 2), but I have not found any other blown fuses under the hood nor in the panel next to the emergency brake.

Possible one of the main electrical fuses blew and I cant see it? vehicle computer?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Great point, The battery measured over 12.7 Headlights will come on. Instrument panel with nearly every light comes on, but that's it in terms of power. The radio/GPS unit does not receive power. No power to fans, heat/AC, power Windows, door locks, gas cap door, wipers, etc.

The shift alert will sound if I attempt to move it out of park which is impossible unless I physically press the reset button (have not tried that)

Thanks!

12.7v is quite low without any load on it. I will use an external charger to charge the battery first. if I am not mistake, the battery needs to be measured around 14 to 16 without any load in order to start. the running voltage , would be between 12 to 13 v.

Thanks,

I'll throw it on the charger and give it a load test. I suspect other issues involved as well as the headlights worked fine.

do the brake lights work? have you tried starting with >13V? theres relays and solenoid, starter besides fuses that could be suspect. even a neutral safety switch. can you start it in neutral?
does the gx have a second level of fuses in the engine bay? many cars had fuses inside under the dash, then a box in the engine area, and under the engine fuses a second level of fuses. i dont know about the gx. should be able to tell by looking at the wires going into the box

Brake lights, blinkers do not work. There was a start attempt in the 13-14 V range. Just attempted the Start in Neutral without success. I'm not aware of a second set of fuses in the engine bay. There is one fuse panel near the battery and a second in the cab near the emergency brake.

Thx again

the brake lights are connected to the brake pedal switch which is used in the start check routine. if theres no power to the pedal switch then the lights wont shine and you wont go anywhare

Yes, that 7.5amp fuse was was fine. I put all fuses on the meter that I could. I only did a visual check on those Type C and D types. I was really hoping it was one of those 130-140amp fuses that cut off primary power. Wishful thinking! I still need to check all of the relays for continuity.

The only thing I can see is the error message reading... "depress break pedal and push engine switch to start"

Ahhhh, that relay might be borked. Are you sure that you're solidly in Park?

the 7.5 is one of the few things in common with the brake pedal and the turn signals.
being in park should not impact the turn signals, meaning that the neutral safety switch should not cause the signals to stop working.
