Default Kdss light

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I recently purchased a 2011 gx460 and noticed a Kdss light. It has a C1832 code for a downstream actuator solenoid malfunction. I have researched the system, but am having trouble finding location and parts for this particular solenoid. At this point, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the vehicle other than the light and a sticky power steering issue. At any rate, my goal is to figure out this Kdss issue so I can get the best from this truck. Any leads or help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I took some photos of what I think may be the part, but it am thinking the downstream actuator solenoid may be a different part.

Solenoid is within that assembly you have in your post. I have only seen this assembly sold as a single unit and without parts.

Default Thanks

I read that thread and immediately understood why this vehicle was sold at auction by the dealer. That is one expensive repair! The truck runs fine on the road, but I am pretty miffed about the Kdsss. My next step is to add voltage to 5 and 4 to see if I hear it click. If it clicks, then it is a wiring issue. If not, then I guess I just try and forget about it.

Whoa! Those Russians, of post #77 are pretty creative!
I'd like to copy their work, but I don't get what they apply on those surfaces, sometimes blue, sometimes black and copper too!
Is that Fluid Film?
Thanks Acrad! I will take pics of my arts, to add it to this thread!

Default KDSS Light (sometimes) + Rear Driver Side Lean

2012 GX 460 w/ Rear Airbags.

Occasionally, and usually when cold outside (below 40F), I will get a yellow KDSS light on my dash after about 5mins post ignition. When the KDSS light illuminates the truck typically exhibits a noticeable lean to the driver's side in the rear. The rear driver's side will be about 1 - 1.5 inches lower than the passenger side. Sometimes the lean still occurs even when there is no KDSS light on. When I toggle the rear airbags into "Hi" setting almost always the passenger side will end up higher than the driver side regardless of whether I am getting the KDSS light to illuminate. The difference is always at least an inch.

There is no leaning in the front.

I have heard about "KDSS Lean" but I am told that this almost always occurs with a lean to the passenger's side as the KDSS rams are all located on the driver's side and the system wouldn't pull the driver's side down. I am not sure if this is a KDSS issue, a rear airbag issue, or maybe a rear height sensor issue. Maybe multiple issues at once. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I bought the car used about 6 months ago so I am not 100% familiar with the history, but I did look at the Lexus service history online and it looks like it was dealer-maintained its whole life with no issues relating to KDSS or the airbags.

UPDATE: I set the airbags to High mode last night and then hit the OFF switch prior to turning the car off so that the bags would maintain their position. I was interested to see if, over the course of the night, the driver's side would start to sag indicating an airbag leak, but about 8 hours later they are still at the same height as I left them.

UPDATE: I pulled the error code. C1851 - Low Pressure Malfunction in KDSS System.

UPDATE: I am interested in the sensor positions for the rear airbag. I crawled under and took a look and sure enough, the sensors were aligned differently, as shown below. The RIGHT side which is higher by about one 1-1.5 inches has the sensor positioned in the middle of the range while the LEFT side that is lower has the sensor positioned in the top of the range. Now, I have no idea if that makes a difference or if I should fiddle with this. I have also saw people add a couple of washers to where the sensor assembly attaches to the wheel well area on the sagging side to remedy a lean. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Evereything looks greasy because I had a coat of Fluid Film applied right after I purchased the vehicle in the Fall.

This is the left side that sits about 1 inch lower. You can see here that the height sensor is position to the top of the adjustment range

The right side that sits higher, the height sensor is positioned in the middle of the adjustment range

Going to try and adjust it this afternoon or tomorrow. Will let folks know how it goes. Additional pic from tech stream confirms the difference

UPDATE: I was able to loosen the slider and move it down a bit. Loosening the slider is actually a bit trickier than it looks because there is a nut on the inner side that you need to hold firm and it was really hard to get a wrench in there just laying on the underside of the car. For people doing this for the first time, it would be easier to remove the driver-side rear wheel and access it from a higher angle.

After adjusting I drove it around for about 15-20 miles and looks to have evened out. No KDSS light during the entire trip. Will see how it goes in the next couple of days.

UPDATE: The car sits relatively level now, maybe 0.25-0.5 inch lean to the driver's side. Every so often the KDSS light will come on for a few minutes and then turn off. I have Techstream so I can pull the pressure data from the KDSS sensor. Does anyone know what the normal readings should be?

I imagine pressure varies with temp and as noted above this issue is more likely to surface when temps are colder. We have been in the low 30s for the last few days.
