The OBDLink app only works with their adapters but includes "ALL" of the automaker and year expansion packs. If you use adapter on a lot of vehicles it would quickly pay for itself. OBD Fusion works on non-OBDLink adapters (although you could use it with theirs) but you then have to purchase the expansion packs.
I would do what they suggested and please report back.
well, this worked. Had to delete my vehicle and re-add, this time as the 2021 GX 460. All the PIDs were added. I can now monitor AT temps and more. Thanks @Acrad
I had two questions but one was already answered in this thread( inability to have trans temps and TPMs at same time). My next question that I haven’t seen the answer for is my tpms is showing in mmHG. How do I get to psi from there?
edit: found it in the preferences screen under setting 👍🏻
I went and filled it up today.
When the pump stopped at first click, the fuel gauge registered with 21.27gal.
I pumped it a bit more and at second click, it was 21.53gal.
I tested it at a few spots in Costco parking to make sure I was on a flat surface, all registered at 21.53.
When I pulled into my drive way at an incline the max it showed was 21.66. Usually on an incline it would show almost 2gal more when 1/2 full.
So the max it could show is 21.66 regardless how much gas is in the tank.
I cannot find where that transmission temperature node is. I've got mx+ adapter with the GX download for my model year
For anyone interested, (on my 2016 Premium) I was able to get Transmission temp, Oil Temp, Coolant Temp, Battery Volts, Engine Load, & Torque Converter Lockup to show on the TORQUE Pro Android App -> Realtime Info displays. Some of my notes are as follows:
I am not affiliated with this app, but have used it to monitor things and do basic MIL / Fault Code reading for other vehicles.
This uses the Advanced EX for TOYOTA plugin. This solution is a bit kludgey because this plugin is not explicitly setup to support the GX460 specific PIDs, but I selected another Toyota model, and I was able to get MANY to work specific to the GX460.
See the orange items on the PDF Attachment below for the PIDs added with this plugin.
Per the other posts in this thread, I'm unsure if this is showing the AT1 pan temp or the AT2 torque converter outlet temp. (More research is needed here. ☺)
There are MANY other things you can display on the TORQUE app -> Realtime Info displays.... I just chose to create a page showing the critical info needed for monitoring temps when towing etc...
It looks like there are about ~185 PIDs natively supported by TORQUE, and 15 added PIDs with the TOYOTA plugin.
I created a PDF vaguely showing how I set it up (attached).
This also shows the list of all of the PIDs supported.
(OBD2 / ELM327) adapter (which supports all the modern OBDII Protocols). (I believe the bluetooth dongle must support the SAE J2480 OBDII Protocol for this to work, but i'm not 100% confident.)
0B) I previously had bought the TORQUE PRO app ($5.25).
1) bought the additional Advanced EX for TOYOTA plugin (+$6.35) (However this may not be necessary if you know how to add custom PID codes. More research needed here.)
2) In the Toyota EX plugin, I selected the Highlander 2.0/2.7 (XU50) Car Model.
3) In TORQUE Settings -> Manage Extra PIDs/Sensors -> Menu (3 dots) -> Add predefined set -> Select Hilander2.0/2.7 (XU50)
4) You can add a page and gauges on the Realtime Information display with all of the PIDs you want to monitor.
5) List of support PIDs. The Orange ones are what is added with the Toyota Plugin
I still want to play around a bit to see if I can add custom PIDs for:
TPMS Tire Pressures (1-5)
AT1 pan temp vs the AT2 torque converter outlet temp
???

Acrad, yes - I can connect with the MX+. Because there is no vehicle specific setup for my 2022 GX, I am not able to see options for all the PIDs that are mentioned throughout this thread. For example, I wish to monitor AT temp and Torque Converter Lock-up status.
I have reached out to OBDLink customer support and an I'm correspondence with Shubert C from tech support. He has suggested that I do the following...
"Download the OBDLink app's 2021 Toyota add-on and set your vehicle to a 2021 variant of your Lexus in the Vehicle Editor, you may be able to read some data.
After connecting to this vehicle at least once, please download the 2021 Toyota OEM add-on in OBDLink app > Settings > Get OEM Enhanced Add-ons > Toyota, Lexus, Scion). After this, please connect to your vehicle via the OBDLink app and go to Settings > Vehicle Editor and set your vehicle to a 2021 Lexus GX460 with a 4.6L engine option. Once you do this, please connect and try to read OEM DTCs or live parameters."
I plan to give this a try and will report back.
In the meantime, it is a bit confusing as the developer offers two apps - OBDLink and OBDFusion. I have acquired both, but Shubert C recommends that I follow the above procedure with the OBDLink app.
Will update on my experience and results...
Anyone ever gotten this to work on a 2023? I haven't managed to get it wrking. Wondering if there is something different between the 2023 and the 2022 (Which some HAVE been able to make work by setting it to 2021).
I don't understand why the OBDLink folks are like 4 Model years behind on Toyota/Lexus. Pulling my hair out to monitor Transmission Temps.
Curious if anyone is able to access network D customizations. 2018 GX460 it says there are no customizations on network D. However network A works, Carista can also access customizations on this network.
