Dumb question about passenger air bag indicator
I know there is an on/off indicator light for the passenger air bag. My question is should the amber "air bag" text always be lit for the passenger air bag to the right of the clock? When I drive by myself I always have the text "air bag" lit with no on or off.
It has always been this way in my 2011 GX since I got it a few weeks ago. I am just curious if that is normal.

That's normal for an empty front seat.

Yours was a smart question regarding a dumb feature. The airbag is costly to replace if
it deploys and it is not needed if the seat is empty. Sensor to tell if the seat is occupied
or not and the bag is deactivated if not needed. So far, so good. How does it make any
sense to put a warning light that is illuminated All The Time to let up know that nothing
is going to happen?

It’s just a system status light.
