Haha. You're right. Removing the rear quarter panel is a pain. Man, so much work to feed a wire from front of vehicle to rear!

I did this installed a Blackvue 2ch camera I ran the wire through the factory grommets and attached the rear camera to the rear glass. Wire was just long enough but I can open everything like before.

and how did you do that?

my grommet goes up behind a metal plate attached to the glass. i dont want to pull on it and mess up the hose or wiring. did you poke a hole in it? can you take pictures of it?

I ran power on the driver side from the fuse panel by the dead pedal and rear video down the pass side along the top and came out in the rear. Through the grommet that goes into the barn door up the left side and out the grommet that feeds the wiper on the glass. When you open the glass the plastic trim piece just pops off. No holes anywhere I didn't even have to take off the door sill trim. I have done 12 of these camera installs Lexus/Toyota, Fords, Nissan, Chevy, Audi etc. I always run where the OEM runs there wires that way I do have any issues with leaks etc.

this is where im stuck, running the wire into the grommet on the glass, any tips/tricks? i know ill have to use a lubricated ziptie attached to the end of the usb, problem is the end of the grommet is under a metal plate and i dont want to pull it and damage something.

i know that i need to push the tab circled in blue out, but when i do it doesnt allow the grommet to come back much.
the grommet end runs up deeper, as marked in red.

side query, when i ran the cable through to the barn door, i cut a hole in it along the red line.
could this come back and bite me in the future, how hard would it be to replace the grommet?

Bringing this back a little, trying not to start a new thread. Can I access the removal of the chrome trim pieces on the back hatch from behind this trim once removed? Or is there a different way to remove these pieces to wrap in vinyl?
