althought the rust isnt a big deal, it can cause things to stick together and doesnt look nice

No issues with the stock ones so far but will try these out next time. I did a pad slap on mine last year.

I've had good luck with Centric in other applications

Can you point me to what specific ones I should get? Not a mechanic, but saw a youtube video and this does not look too difficult to do to save some money.

Something like this: https://www.carid.com/centric/prefer...brake-kit.html

The Akebono I used is ACT976 for Front and ACT606 for rear
You can go to Rockauto.com and see all the part numbers

To me, your Dealer quote seem VERY high since they are not replacing the rotors.

BTW, the NTB rotors now have rust on the rotor "hats" and looks like crap. The wife doesn't notice it (it is her ride) but I will be replacing the rotors myself in the not-too-distant future. I am not knocking NTB, just a reminder that there are differences in the quality of work and the parts used.
late yeah but ill still add a comment.
maybe on some areas one of those rust restorers/converters, the kind that turn black would be good enough. loctite makes a good one.
would have to be careful not to get on the actual braking surface

its an acid that converts the rust into a protective coating.

FYI, I checked part numbers for stock pads on both the '14 GX and the '12 4R and they are the same part number so TRD pads for the win!

I'm interested to know the differences between the normal vs TRD pads.

Also, you have the part numbers? Thanks.

Local dealer here wanted $650 for pads and resurface on our IS350. Haven't had them quote on the GX yet but its much cheaper to DIY or bring your OE parts to a trusted mechanic.

From my (albeit limited) experience with BBK, I'd opine that most don't bring any advantage in day to day driving, but will add noise. I'd suggest getting a different set of pads and go from there. The slotted/drilled rotors bring no benefit unless you on the track.
