^^^ I agree, but if I hit the brakes hard, I feel like I no longer have brake pedal sensitivity control. The GX goes into abrupt panic mode.

Default 2015 GX460 Brake Too Loose?

My father purchased the 2015 GX460 this past January and the car currently has 4,500 miles. The first complementary oil change was completed in July. I feel that the brake of his GX460 is not sensitive enough, and I have to step on the brake very hard to feel the truck stopping. Does every GX460 owner feel the same way? I told my father about this, and he said I'm just not used to it. I'm thinking about taking his truck back to Lexus to check it out. The dashboard so far doesn't indicate any ABS problem. By the way, I'm an owner of a 2014 IS350 F-Sports, and my 350's brakes are much better in my opinion. I'm not sure whether my experience of my 350, which has larger brake calipers for its size, has influenced me to draw such conclusion about the GX460 brakes.

Also, I notice that when I step on/release the GX460 pedels, I hear some noise that sounds like air. Did some research about this on the forum, and some of you have that too. I still don't understand this issue.

Default GX460 Brake Issue

Have a 2015 Luxury purchased Jan 15. Also, ~4700 miles. Have no brake issues. A couple of times I have had to make an abrupt stop and the vehicle responded well. Go to dealer, first ask to test drive one of the GX's on the lot for comparison and then if you notice a difference take it into the service dept.

I came from an '08 GS350 and noticed the drastic difference in break feel compared to my '10 GX. I test drove a 2015 also and they feel fairly similar to my '10.

If search this forum you'll find some posts that talk about the soft break feel. It's inherent to this truck.

I also felt like the brakes were too soft and took too much pressure to hold the truck at a stop.

I upgrade the pads to Hawk LTS pads and slotted rotors. Now the brakes feel amazing!

Default Brakes sticking to rotors after wash

Anyone else have any issues with the brakes locking to the rotors after washing the vehicle? I washed it on Saturday afternoon, pulled it back into the garage and it sat there until Monday morning.

I back the vehicle into the garage, always. I started it up, put it in D and usually it will want to lurch forward if I don't hold the brakes firmly. Not today. I could not get the thing to budge. I sat there for a few seconds to make sure the parking brake was not on. It was not, as I never use that. My garage floor is the slippery concrete, plus with the tire shine that I applied, the wheels were just spinning. After I managed to get the vehicle halfway out, I put it in reverse...that worked no problem. I put it back in drive and had no issues after that.

Has anyone else had any experience like this, do I need to have the vehicle looked at? It only has 5,400 miles, and it was just in last week for the 5K mile service.

I had the same problem last year. From what some here explained and what my mechanic told me:
If water is allowed to sit between the semi-metallic pads and rotors a 'rust-bond' can form due to the tighter tolerances of those parts, compared to other vehicles. After washing your vehicle move it in forward or reverse with the brakes applied which will force the water out. I haven't had any issues since doing this.

Car should be fine*. It is a very common issue on one of my other cars - which has metallic brake pads will rust to the steel rotor if the system is wet & cold & allowed to sit for a prolonged period (over night will do it). *If you notice any pulsing/grabbing/unusual noise under normal braking, then get them inspected.

To prevent in the future all you need to do is make sure rotors/pads are dry before parking car, i.e. take it out for a spin using the brakes as you normally would. One normal stop from 55mph should do it.

What they said. It is pretty common when brakes get wet and left to sit for a few days.

I've noticed it before, just not that bad. Usually when I put the car in D and let off the brake, there's a loud pop and car goes forward. However, this time, they were locked down pretty severe. Pushing the accelerator pedal did little to move me forward.

Vehicle is garage kept.

I've experienced the same issue. I also keep my vehicle in the garage. I put my vehicle in
reverse and give it gas, they release, it's like the pads are stuck to the rotors...

This is a common issue with the GX line, it has happened on very GX I have owned (2004, 2012 & 2015). I do just what Craig said, it usually makes a horrible pop sound when it breaks free but that's about it, does not hurt anything. Mine are always garaged and it only happens after washing, when in rain it never happens, the brakes are too hot after driving for them to stick together (the heat dries the brakes out).

Default parking brake pedal return spring

The return spring for the parking brake pedal randomly popped off the pedal assembly a couple months ago. Anyone else had this happen? I can't figure out how to get it put back on - there's no room to work in that narrow space, and the spring is too tight to stretch by hand.

Picture for reference.

I'd try to disconnect the cable from the pedal, remove the bolts that hold the pedal in place and get it on a workbench and see if you can't get the spring back in.
