In the setup menu there's a spot that you can change the distance at which it beeps.

I set both cars to the max distance and there is a very noticeable difference. the sensors are attached differently on the cars, the gx is flush and the rx is not. maybe they are different sensors

Default GX460 parking sensors going nuts with snow

my girlfriends GX460 is going nuts with this new snow we are getting in Colorado. It keep showing a complete failure of the system and gives warning in the center dash and on the dash.

Is there a way to just shut the system down until after the weather clears up or forever, since its failed twice before?

yes its been checked by the dealer, but they will only hook it up to the computer, not do a really test with it.

My CPO GX has aftermarket sensors and they are super annoying in frozen rain and snow! Luckily there's a switch to shut the front ones down. I don't know if the OEM ones are the same.

You can turn them off through the instrument panel menu. Push the menu button on the steering wheel (to the left of the little paddle switch that says "Enter"), use the paddle switch to scroll to the parking sensors, and then set the system to off.

This is detailed in the owners manual where it specifically talks about snow causing it to give false readings. Also shows how to turn it off, as the others have said.

Default Lexus parking assist monitor question

Hi- I just bought a US 2016 GX 460 Luxury which has GPS (Navigation system),
IPA (Intuitive Parking Assist), BSM (Blind Spot Monitor) etc.

There is a function called "Lexus parking assist monitor",
see owner's manual p257, which looks like it is not available even on the Luxury version.
And by deduction I think it might come only with the
special order only "DRIVER SUPPORT PACKAGE" ?

I would like to check with any recent 2016 US GX 460 owner what you see
in your LCD navigation system screen when you back up or do a parallel parking.

1) For me, I only see the static blue and red guide lines, no matter
what vehicle set up I choose in the “LEXUS Park Assist Settings".
And I don't have either in any of the 3 corners of the screen
the Display mode switch screen button
or the Intuitive parking assist insert display
or the Parking mode switch screen button

2) In the manual, p257, under the function "Lexus parking assist monitor",
they show you can see, super imposing to the static blue and red lines,
some moving yellow lines helping you with your parallel parking or perpendicular parking.

So what do you see 1) or 2) ?
And if 2) what did you do or what option did you buy ?
Thanks.

The IPA is available through the steering wheel controls on the menu for the center cluster.

The Parking assist monitor are the cameras available on the front and passenger side mirror

Yes I got the IPA green icon to show up in the dashboard, by setting up with the steering wheel menu option.
And I got the Lexus Parking assist set up through the navigation screen.
Which I thought would be enough to see the Parking assist monitor and the yellow guide lines.
But it looks like from your second answer, that it needs also the front and side cameras option, which can only be found in the "Driver Support Package" (DSP) special order.
And these advanced features of parking assist monitor were not described in the marketing brochure or in the build your car, as part of the DSP.
Anyway thanks.

So I guess nobody sees these moving yellow grid lines in their GX460 screen when they back up or they parallel park ?

I have a 2017 GX460 Luxury with Nav, BSM and IPA - but do not have the Drivers Support Package.

Like you, my rearview camera shows only static lines (your option 1 below).

I would prefer the rearview camera showing at least the yellow moving lines moving lines (option 2) which correspond to steering wheel angle (like our IS 350 does), but guessing the Drivers Support Package is needed for this functionality.

Thanks Budman1 for confirming what you have. So even with the new 2017, nothing has changed for that Parking Assist Monitor feature. I was getting crazy for a while trying to change all kind of configurations in the car options menu and so on. And of course nothing worked.
