Lightbulb Side Mirror Problems/Repairs//Questions

Can someone tell me how hard is it to replace the signal light lens? Made a stupid mistake last night and long story short, the clear lens is broken and needed to be replaced. At first the folding mechanism seemed a bit weird but it seems to be working for now. The cover is ok without damage. The light still works

Looks like I need this part: Signal Lamp - Lexus (81740-60100). https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...bC12OC1nYXM%3D

Can anyone confirm? Canadian dealer said part needs to be ordered and is $140 plus tax. That works out to about $107 USD plus tax.

You can find in the states on Ebay for around $62 USD. I've never disassembled my mirrors to that degree. It seems someone else broke that piece and replaced in another thread.

That is correct part. To replace, just pull the mirror from the bottom, then detach the wires for blind indicator, auto dimmer, and heater, then you will be able to see the plastic claws that hold the mirror cover (the body color part). The best way to do so is to have three small flat head screw driver, push the claws off and use two to hold two on the top, then pup the lower one, the cover will be off easily. then you will be able to access the turn signal which is held by three black screws.

Thanks! Just to clarify, I do I need to actually remove the mirror glass or do I move it around to expose the tabs for the body color cover? And then once the cover is off, everything is done from behind the mirror, right?

You do need to pull the glass off (then unconnected few wires before you can see the clips that holding the mirror cover. After remove the cover, replace the turn signal assembly is easy, just three screws. Here is the document on how to remove the cover. It is at beginning of the document. Hope that helps.

I was hoping I can somehow gently pry the cover off and then replace the signal light without removing the mirror. Is that not possible or not recommended?

It's not possible without remove the glass. Without release the clip and claws from inside, you will ended up breaking the tab, leave the cover unusable.

Here is a youtube video on how to take the mirror off on RX350. The concept is exactly the same. Only one thing that I will do is the start from the bottom where you have more gap spaces to get your fingers in to pull the mirror glass.

It seems a little disconcerting to be pulling on this but mine popped out with only a gentle amount of pressure.

Finally ordered the lens cover off eBay using the 20% off code. With shipping and custom and brokerage, it's $100 CAD. Still more than $50 CAD less than what the cheapest Lexus dealer in town wants and more than $85 CAD less than another local Lexus dealer. What a stupid mistake. Oh well... let's hope I can replace it myself and not have to pay the dealer to put it on.

For Canadian GX, you will have both side cameras if you have the MTS option. The display for the left side (or both side views) are available when you have either MTS or Crawl Control function enabled. In normal driving condition when speed below 25 km/h, you can only enable either front wide view or right view.

For US GX, nor MTS is offered as factory option, and only right side camera is available when equipped with Driver Support Package option.

If your GX come with the camera, it should have those options. The Crawl control select switch is next to the shift, you should be able to see it, with On/Off and a rocket select for speed control. The MTS is initiated from steering wheel by press the "Menu" button on right side of steering wheel, the bottom has two overlapped rectangles on it.
