Adding #wide #view and #sideview #camera support
BA777, Thanks!
Now we know that all model years, the wire harness is there to support the camera, and 020 (most likely 040) drive support control unit will also support camera. The only missing piece is the camera activation switch. Given everything we have found so far, the support for switch is almost certain there within existing steering wheel wire harness which also supports all other steering wheel buttons functions.

Looks like the camera part number are all the same for '14 and up. and "14 and up grill can have camera installed without any modification. If we get this working, does this mean that we are going to move to adding adaptive cruise.....
Will we need to get a new left side steering wheel control unit? From the images online, it looks like the camera button is attached to the left side. The junk yards have a few pictures of the regular controls which feed into one connector.

I can’t find a separate part # for the left side. It looks like they come in a pair

I did found the part number for the switch panel that should be a plug and play for the steering wheel. the last two digits C0 or E0 are for the two different color of your wheel. C0 is black. from the picture drawing, there is one simple combined connector, which is a good thing. I guess to do it just need to remove the airbag cover in the center, the two side of panel should be held by taps and clips only.

Compare ObsidianBI and BA777 posted picture for the front grill where camera area, I did noticed there are slightly different on the grill, mainly, the area right under the logo, for GX with drive support package, there is a plastic extension off the upper edge of the opening where the camera has been mounted. On GX without drive support package, it is just flat. So in order to mount the camera, there needs to be find a way to add some support piece in order to mounted the camera in that slot.

Speculation on the 4 pin connector and front camera.
A generic backup camera has the following wires.
If that is the case, we could test a generic camera on amazon or aliexpress for $5-20 and cut all the connectors off. Then take male pin connectors to all the wires and hook it up in a crude fashion.
I'm not very knowledgeable with electronics and wiring, but it seems like a reasonable possibility. Unless, Lexus has some kind of proprietary camera wiring.

The plug on this FJ backup camera looks similar. Guy is retrofitting an aftermarket

These were the closest connectors I could find. The grooves seem to be slightly off on the male connector.
