Just be careful the over doesn't interfere with the seat airbags.

Koz,

Excellent point. Thanks for that. Do you use a cover?

The question is, do you want an ugly target seat cover on your new Lexus?

Its kind of like buying nice living room furniture and immediately putting plastic covers on it. Its a nice car, but it is a car and why spend the money on something like a GX when you don't let yourself enjoy the beautiful, comfortable leather interior?

JMHO...

I agree with you, I buy my vehicles to use and would never put a seat cover on my seats.

I agree with the others, I wouldn't even consider a seat cover. A Lexus is not a seat cover type of vehicle. I think of a Jeep Wrangler or early 80's Chevy Pick up when I think of seat covers.

I wouldn't mind functional seat covers like the ones sold by land rover .. great fit, quality material and functional .. GXs & LXs are off-road vehicle and owners Will benefit from seat covers in such conditions. it's just unfortunate that as vehicle with such off-road pedigree does not offer oem accessories such as seat covers.

I have taken all of my past 4 wheel drive vehicles off road and one of the major decisions I had to think about was not being able to do it anymore. I know these vehicles can be great off road but the don't have the clearance or aggressive enough tires to do anything more then some hilly dirt trails. I know the running boards would be one of the first things destroyed off road. So, seat covers won't be needed for my street queen. Snow on the other hand will be fun if we ever get any! Still could use better tires though.

Default Leather color differences

Just bought a 2013 RX 350 and color variations in black leather are very noticeable, particularly in the sun. While the seat surfaces are slightly bluer than the seat sides (probably due to semi-aniline verses pigmented leather), the arm rests are much more violet than the door panels. I took to dealer and they said they have never seen this before but I cannot believe no one else has noticed. Comparable car on the lot did not show this color difference. Dealer is checking with the factory. Anyone else noticed this?

I have owned other luxury cars (Porsche & Mercedes) and have never seen these variances in the black leather.

Default Leather Protection

I am deciding between Black and Ecru leather interior for a new GX. The blue transfer from jeans on light leather has haunted me in the past on a cadillac. The Lexus salesmen mentioned that they offer a protective coating as an add on to prevent this transfer.

Has anyone had this protective coating put onto their ecru seats? Have you had problems with dirty seats?

We enjoy cleaning our vehicles but not every couple days to keep the blue off! Thanks in advance for your help! Hopefully I will be a new Lexus owner soon.

I don't know much about the leather protection that Lexus provides. I'm not sure I would spend the money on this from the dealer. There are plenty of really good leather cleaners/conditioners out there that do a fine job. I personally use Meguiars leather wipes on my vehicles. I would say once a month or every other month would be sufficient to keep the leather clean and well conditioned. I have only had my GX (with Ecru) for a month so I haven't yet had any issues with color transfer. My previous vehicle was a LR4 with Almond leather which is basically the same light color as Ecru. I noticed that there was some of the bluish color on the side of the driver's seat and I used the wipes and it came right off. I'm sure others may have had good experience with other brands as well. One other brand that I know people claim is fantastic is Lexol.

Hope this helps.

I've had no problems with the black interior in my 2010 and my 2014. I would go with black...
