Just bought a 21 GX last week and has the ppi done showing this same leak...14k miles. Both Indy ppi place and Lexus dealer says they are starting to see more of these. Took 3 days to repair.
I read somewhere between 1-2k d/t labor hours as mentioned. Plus skill level isn't as high since they're not doing them daily, thus takes even longer This was mine btw
The Torsen Diff (VF4BM) used in '10-'22 460 is also used in 4th Gen 4R (2003-2009) w/V8 as well as 5th Gen Limited models (2010-2022)
interesting and thanks for sharing. i happen to have an 06 V8 4Runner in addition to the GX. Good to know I have a spare TC in the garage if i ever need it =)
My worry is with all these early failures getting fixed now... Will this happen again in another 20-40K miles or is it possible the human installation in a hot dealer garage is better than the factory install of these seals?
I wondered the same thing on my Porsche 991.2 which has the omnipresent water pump leak that so many others have had (I also had it on my Audi Q7)... They get fixed at 10-20k miles and makes me wonder if it will just leak again in the same number of miles when the warranty is out?
Anyone have issues with their GX leaking oil? I have a 2015 that I bought in January which was dealer maintained every 6 months interval service and ever had a oil leak fix recommendation. I took it to Toyota for my first oil change and the engine, transmission and transfer case is leaking oil. They did provide photos and it is moist in all the areas they have recommended a oil leak check. I have never had a problem with a Toyota or Lexus leaking any oil prior nor have I read up on it. Anyone have experience with this in their GX?
