Following your advices, I changed all the comp deductible to $50, add OEM parts and Safety Glass and Windshield coverage and it only goes up $80 for 3 cars for a year. Not bad at all. Still keeping the collision deduct to $1k
I'll will be contacting AAA in a few days to replace the windshield on the GX and the Camry.
Another question (I think it may answer previously), if an independent installer is replacing the glass, even if he's using OEM, do I still need to purchase the clips and moldings?

You can easily request a Comp deductible around $100 and as long as your vehicle is not the most commonly stolen model, or you live in an area where there are very few vehicle thefts or car fires (I was going to say car bombs, but not everyone gets my humor), then it will make only a minor change in your rates.

IMO... that should be included with the windshield install but I would be upfront on replacement and just tell them you know those pieces require replacement and break on removal. Don't let them try to epoxy it back in place. Ironically... dealing with this today after my fender repair. As part of paint matching they removed that piece on my GX and of course broke the clips so they need to fix that piece as a post fix repair.

Absolutely correct.

Yes, people don't understand that a low comp deductible is not only cheap but ultimately saves money. My entire comp portion for three cars (Civic, Acura TSX and a Lexus RX) is $86 for 6 months - so less that $60 a year per car for a $100 deductible. The same coverage with $1000 deductible is $66 for 6 months, so a $20 difference or less than $14 per car per year. I typically need a new windshield every 5 years.
The Lexus windshield is $675 at Safelite (easiest place to get a quote). With the $1000 deductible it would cost me $675 plus tax, so ~$700. With the $100 deductible, it costs me 5 years of extra premiums (so $70) plus the deductible, so $170
Oh, if you've just changed your deductible, then I'd wait awhile before you submit a claim.
I had a new windshield installed and at the two top corners there are small rubber flaps sticking out. Should these be tucked under the weatherproofing? At top left of windshield
Good nights fellows. I have a accident in my car and my windhsield glass break and buy tthe replace 56101-60821 thinking thiswindshield is work with the rain sensor but i see the space. Can anyone tell me if this part has a correct description with "with rain sensor without lane assist"
Yup! Big Black Florida kamikaze bird right into my windshield.
Saw him in my middle lane far away so I switched lanes, yeah then he did the exact same thing...
my Service Dog Denny n I are fine, had to wipe off the glass on both of us. if it wasn’t for my sunglasses, I’d have glass in my eyes.
I was driving Sunday (trying) to head home to NY after here for 2 weeks helping family out. Looks like I got to stay til Wednesday.
So glad my GX has the plastic film protector, his claws hit the hood but zero damage.
be careful cleaning glass with leather and dash not to drag it across with a rag wiping, can cut. Had a side window broken by thief at airport parking and cut my seat trying to wipe up the broken pieces. Vacuum straight up if you can
Wow, that's some impact! Glad you're ok, sucks you now gotta have your windscreen replaced. I hope it's another OEM one and not a cheap aftermarket one. Looking at your steering wheel you've got a 2020 or 2021 yes?
yes 2021. Safelite is the only one who has glass. Dealership said they are National Back order of 2 weeks to 2 months! Crazy world we live in.
A. What is the difference between OEM and Aftermarket? I don't have a choice it's whatever Safelite has which prob means aftermarket but I'll ask to be sure.
