Default 2012 gx460

I currently have the Lexus 2012 GX460 and it rides very rough especially compared to my GX470.
Why is this? I think the GX470 had a switch so the driver could adjust the smoothness of the ride but this car does not. Although I like the look of this car I am very disappointed with the bumpy ride. Passengers in my car have made comments on how rattled they feel after riding in my car.
We are a 3 Lexus family but I am considering trading in my 460 from something that rides more like the 470. Don't know if it matters but I have those hydrogen filled tires.
Can anyone explain why the ride is so rough? is there a setting I can change to ?

Is it a premium or a base? In the middle of your console do you have 4 switches, or 2 switches?

Check your tire pressure. Match the pressure listed inside the driver's side door.

The premium has a switch to change from sport or comfort. I think you meant nitrogen filled tires. I agree, also check your tire pressure. My 2010 didn't ride rough and neither does my 2014. The sport setting does ride rough.

My 12 is very smooth. Check the tire pressure, maybe shocks, something sounds wrong. What type of tires are on it? Load range?

Sorry to hijack the thread. But I have a brand new '13 GX that was purchased 2 months ago. I noticed it was pulling to the left and took it into service. Was told they fixed it and now it pulls to the right. I mean, you can also center the steering wheel and it'll drift to the right. But the most important thing I noticed was how much more rougher the car was after getting it back. It no longer soaks up the road like it used to and doesnt drive as smooth. I can feel all the bumps and yes, I've checked the tire pressure. Brought it back to the dealership today and the tech who worked on it kept saying its normal. Part of the "breaking in" process. *rolls eyes*

I've never owned a Lexus before, let alone a $55k one. Does the GX lose its smoothness that quick? I only have 1800 miles on it. It's hard to explain the symptoms but I hope to get some advice/answers.

Ok yes I did mean nitrogen.. called Lexus service today and the rep told me that the ride adjustment was an option on the 2012 GX460. Seriously - who would "opt" to have a car that only offers a rough ride? I have a base 460 and there are two panel covers where the ride switch would possibly be. This was never mentioned when the car was purchased. Very disappointing for the Lexus family. We switched from Mercedes because we felt Lexus was a superior car in looks, ride, comfort and price..now I am not so sure that was the right decision.

Hey OP, go get a wheel alignment and see if you need a wheel balance.

I don't know the OP, but I AM having similar issues right now. But in his defense, there are a lot of folks out there that don't know anything about cars. It's easy for us to overlook because we're enthusiasts. Look at the BS that comes out of salesmen's mouths and they sell those cars for a living. He/she just joined so I'm assuming they typed in their diagnosis online and clublexus showed up and they joined.

But, I could be wrong and the OP could be a Merc nut. ???
