#Vibration / #Shake Issues
So I swapped the suspected faulty coil (Cyl 5) with Cyl 1. Drove for 15 min (light and spirited) with a scanner plugged in. Cyl 1 showed 2 counts of misfire. No other cylinder misfiring. Ordered all new OEM Denso plugs and one Denso coil. Hoping for a quick fix... If not then I might need to move on to injectors...

Hi,
I have 2018 GX and have noticed the slight vibration/drone at 55mph and disappear or the road nose takes over around 65mph. I notice more when I accelerate with >2000rpm
First I thought it is the alignment issue but if I release the gas pedal, it disappears so I'd assume it's got something to do with driveline?
I'd bet this is not safety issue and maybe most people won't notice it as it's not loud.
I searched this forum and found the attached TSIB but for 03-08 model. I wonder if it's still related to this issue which I'd like to doubt but this car seems to be the same for many years...so I thought I could check with you guys.
Any input appreciated!
Thanks!

On a side note, any chance it's a hub bearing on the driver side? I had to replace 2 of those on the drivers side of my Tacoma over it's 130K miles but never had to replace one on my passenger side. Strange that they only wear on that one side but one theory was that the driver is always in the vehicle and a passenger may not be.
We picked up our new 2020 GX, luxury trim, about a month ago with 18 miles on the odometer. Never test drove it as we have had a 2006 and a 2019 in the past. Almost right away, driving off the lot, I felt something different - low speed to mid speed vibration! Called the salesman and informed him of the issue as well as the service advisor who I have worked with for the last 15 years.
The truck has slight vibration, felt by the leg on the accelerator pedal, accelerating from a stop which gets gradually worse between 40-70. The vibration is felt even when cruising in this speed range. However, almost disappears completely around 80 mph where the truck feels like my 2019! I took the truck to the dealership last Thursday and they did the wheel balancing and alignment. Picked it up on Friday and drove it over the weekend extensively - no change. May be the truck did have slight wheel balancing issue. So I dropped it again at the dealership with 923 miles on the odometer. This time I asked them to look at the driveline as I believe the vibration is related to the driveline - could be just imbalanced shafts. Hard to believe what else could be wrong with a brand new truck. What do you guys think? What else I should be concerned about? I am even contemplating letting Lexus know to cover all my bases. However, I believe in the dealership so am not thinking about it for the moment.
BTW, the brakes are much improved over 2019 and almost back to my 2006 truck.
Thank you!

I think the issue might be the tires. How long did it sit on the lot? You can find the date on the driver door jam. Flat spot might be a reason.
Did they do the road force balance? If not, I'll ask them about that and make sure they give you the road force numbers for all 4 tires after the job is done. The number should be low, like under 20. The lower the better.

this is a known issue with many gx 460s. u may have to go to softer tires. michelin defender LTXs are rough and hard with a treadwear rating of 800. this is why they last so long. i have them on mine and vibrations at all speeds random, but goes away near 80-100.
i am not sure what stock tires come on gx nowadays.

I had similar problem on my 2017 initially had vib from 50 to 65mph and gone at 65+
after dealer did road force it got better but still slight vib at 60 to 65 and completely gone at 70.
I will ask to grease the zeros next time I am at the dealer.
but for vibrations once you start noticing it.... we get paranoid and feel it even worst.
good luck!!!

My 2019 with the OEM Michelin will have a slight vibration if the GX sits for an extended period of time. Once I drive for a few miles, its smooth again. I've heard rumors that the OEM Michelins were giving GX owners issues. I doubt that Lexus would put on LTX for OEM tires. A softer tire will make issues worse. LTX are a harder compound.
My 2016 with Yokohama can sit for a longer period and have zero issues. I actually prefer the Yokohama over the Michelins.
As stated before, the OEM Michelins are so soft that the develop a memory very quickly.
