Hypo: 2010 GX with the side mouldings with 12K miles. Perfect shape other than a couple door dings. How much would it be worth to pay to trade in for the exact same car in 2011 or 2012?

 

What is the blue book value?

There are little differences between 00 and 11/12 models. So even you get a better than fair-market value, it is not worth a trade-in.

 

This may sound dumb, but what is the purpose of the trade-up if you're getting the same thing unless you happen to want the premium and the HID lights.

 

Not dumb. I have no interest in selling, dealer called and asked if I wanted to sell and I said no bc I'd just go buy the same thing anyway and since they haven't changed I'd literally get the same exact car, just new. Just made me wonder what would it be worth to pay to get the same exact thing but new. . .

 

You could have asked the dealer how much they'd expect you to pay. :-) I am curious too.

 

I would wait for the 2013 model. It's going to be a refresh...

 

I just said well let me know how much it would be and I'll think about it. I'm sure it's not going to be worth it given the depreciation of a new car.

What makes you think 2013 will have anything especially different? Don't they change every 5 or so years? did the 470 have any major changes through the years? They all look the same to me. . . as do the various iterations of the 4runner. . .

 

My salesman told me, that's what makes me think there will be a refresh for 2013. Ask your dealer and see what they say. Let us know as well...

 

They usually do minor refreshes (unlike the 2012)..I'm guessing...

1) 19" rims

2) Christmas lights LED on the front headlights

3) Maybe some very minor work to the bumpers


Hopefully they will fix the rust and shaking problem also.

 

Hopefully they will improve the brakes too!
