All I had to do was install the brake controller. It was a 5 minute install. The plug was under the far left side of the dash and I used industrial velcro to attach it to the left side of the dash.

Prewiring FTW but regardless very nice DIY! I'm curious, what is the lever on the front of it used for?

 

It's to manually apply the trailer brakes and to help set the max pressure applied when full braking is applied.

I would have been hitting it with my knee (especially my right leg). I tried all the locations and where I mounted it seems to be the least intrusive and can easily be removed when not in use. Also that looks like the bracket is stationary and can not be removed when the controller is not in use. On my last vehicle I mounted it on the fuse cover and would just pop the cover off and use a second blank cover when not in use. I don't what to see anything when not in use.

Everything went well, 900 miles total. I was very impressed with the quality of the materials used and the overall design/construction of the trailer. The trailer was incredibly smooth and stable at any speed. There is no need for any type of sway or weight dist system. I did drop 6 mpg towing. I got 20.5 (at 75 mph) without and 14.5 (at 65 mph) on the way back. Going through PA there were many long inclines (mountains) that required 4th gear. Once in 4th gear it would maintain ANY speed, at any grade, no problem. The trailer is ROCK solid, it never lost stability or jumped around even after going over some really bad roads at highway speeds (and on turns). The radial 225/15s with the independent susp set-up works great. The only things so far that I think need to be modified is the fire extinguisher location (rubs when assembling the door) and the propane tank area (wires also) needs shielding. Also the bathroom walls needs some velcro to keep it from hitting the towel rack when assembling. I will be replacing some lighting to LED. All the running lights are already LED. I can't wait to take my first camping trip!

Sounds like the GX has plenty of torque and that is certainly a great thing.

Just got back from my maiden voyage (one week) with my GX and new TrailManor (TM). Both performed great! The GX towed amazingly smooth (without any sway or WD systems). I was able to keep the trans in 6th gear 80% of the trip (at 65mph) and got 16.8 mpg. It seems each gear equates to 1 mpg. If 5th is the primary highway gear I get mileage in the 15s and with 4th it's in the 14s. Anyway, I'm thrilled with being able to get that good mileage.

Of course a good part of the mileage was because of the weight of the TM (4K lbs loaded) and having a low aero profile. In the week of camping it rained 5 days, so the TM got a great leak test. Turns out the only leak was from the kitchen sink drain plumbing. Just had to hand tighten the PVC drain flange and it was fixed. I really enjoyed the comfort of TM and can't wait to get it out on a real road trip.
