reaching up for the mute button never really bothered me, but yeh.. the unit does hang a bit low. I do prefer having mine at eye level or higher though (I can't imagine having to look down all the time. I may put the main unit in the rear, maybe andthe stealth unit somewhere a bit higher than where yours is located at.

going back to dome lights - I've installed 360 wedge light for the center. they were like 12 a pair, where as my Oznium cost me 55 or so. night and day difference. My flat oznium is at least 3x brighter and the light itself is much whiter with a nice blue tint
