The rate does not matter what kind of veh.It all depends on what rate you can negotiate with the rep.Tell them that if you do not get a better rate you are going to drop the service
It depends on what services you wish to continue with your subscription, e.g., music or weather or traffic or combinations. You may get a very good rate to renew satellite radio, i.e., music only, but if all you want to do is listen to music ... bring your iPod. Presumably, what's on your iPod is closer to what you like than what satellite radio plays, right?
My opinion ... the real value comes from the traffic and weather information, especially if you take long trips to unfamiliar areas. Granted, you can get an idea of traffic problems due to scheduled construction from an AAA "TripTik" but like any printed map the information is soon out of date. The NavTraffic service provides current information about scheduled construction and an indication of traffic flow on monitored roads, e.g., the interstate highways near larger cities. If there is heavy traffic or construction between you and your destination, the navigation system can route around the problem. For me, avoiding sitting in traffic jams justifies the price.
Likewise for NavWeather. A local newspaper or radio station can provide a rough update on weather and an iPhone with a weather app can provide real-time weather maps ... if you remember to bring them and remember to check them. Me ... I prefer to let the GX 460 announce that there is bad weather in the area or along the route so I have the option to re-schedule our departure or get off the road early. Being able to check the forecast for destination cities while en-route is also an advantage.
So, you can cancel your satellite service and bring an iPod for music, TripTik maps for avoiding traffic and an iPhone for weather forecasting ... or let your Lexus provided those services by subscription. The choice is buying and bringing gadgets, maps, etc. or paying for services using the capabilities built in to your vehicle. The former is certainly cheaper ... especially if you already own the gadgets, but the latter is more convenient and more useful. I'm willing to pay for convenience and utility.

Renewed my xm today. When calling the customer service rep stated $157.83 for a 1 year plan. I explained to her that I knew of an individual that received a 1 year plan for $77. she said there was a special rate probably at that time but she would check with her supervisor. The final rate I am paying for a 1 year subscription is $85.32.

This is the same pricing plan we received in the mail. I believe this is the XM package for radio, weather, sports/stocks info. XM probably thinks the average consumer would not bother to understand the breakdown of the various services and pay the whole thing. $77/yr for just the radio seems more reasonable as we don't need all the other services. We have iPhones/Droids for that other stuff. We still have a month of trial left. This is all good info to share.
I get the letter with packages 2-3 times already. I am not planning to renew since XM has only a fair content and not worth paying for. It has been already 9 month since I have bought the truck, and XM has not been disconnected yet.
