Default dealer ordered wrong model.

Hi, i just got my new GX...intresting story but wondering if this was a sales tactic or a genuine mistake.

I originally ordered GX premium model, after wating 3 months and getting all the paperwork signed we were ready to see the truck. as the sales person was showing us he noticed items that are only available in the Ultra premium model. So basically it was our truck only with the ultra package.

So now basically we could either wait who knows how long or the next black GX or the dealer would make us a deal for the ultra. Now in the end we took the Premium as they really did make it worth our while, but i just heard a friend of mine say this also happened to them and it is a sales tactic, which would disturb me as the sales person really seemed to be a genuine nice person and very communicative during the 3months that we waited to close the deal.

Has anyone else had this happen? btw i am in Canada.

I would say it's an honest mistake. Why, because how many times could a dealer get away with such a tactic before the word got out. Dealers pay thousands of dollars each year in advertising, why would they sacrifice their reputation for a few more deals. IMO

May I ask why do you think it was an Ultra Prem? What was the MSRP of the vehicle?

I have heard of similar problems in the past.

That's why I asked my dealer to print the vehicle inventory detail report for my GX.

This report shows standard equipment, factory options, port installed options, interior/exterior color, and even the VIN.

That way I could confirm that the car they ordered was equipped as I specified.

Canadian Ultra Premium = US Premium + additional options
Canadian Premium = US Base + additional options

It is easy to tell the Canadian Ultra Premium from the Canadian Premium.

A couple of examples would be the AVS controls in the center console and the RSES screens. These features are included on the Canadian Ultra Premium and not available on the Canadian GX Premium.

Deek, can you include the specs for your new GX on the roll call thread?

Deek, may I ask where you live in Canada? I order a Premium GX too, and won't get getting it till end of this month. Sounds like you got yours already?
